CNN) -- A Boston, Massachusetts, police officer who sent a mass e-mail in which he referred to Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. as "banana-eating" and a "bumbling jungle monkey" has been placed on administrative leave and faces losing his job.
Officer Justin Barrett, 36, who is also an active member of the National Guard, sent an e-mail to some fellow Guard members, as well as the Boston Globe, in which he vented his displeasure with a July 22 Globe column about Gates' controversial arrest.
The columnist, Yvonne Abraham, supported Gates' actions, asking readers, "Would you stand for this kind of treatment, in your own home, by a police officer who by now clearly has no right to be there?"
In his e-mail, which was posted on a local Boston television station's Web site, Barrett declared that if he had "been the officer he verbally assaulted like a banana-eating jungle monkey, I would have sprayed him in the face with OC [oleoresin capsicum, or pepper spray] deserving of his belligerent noncompliance."

Now there is a cop acting stupidly.
“Hmmmmm”.....
Hmmmmm....what?
No problem. They cast their net wide and found a cop who fits their prejudice. Problem solved, and the guy is a volunteer no less.
“Now there is a cop acting stupidly.”
yah...the dumb bastard couldn’t even get his racial slurs right. One can only imagine what his police reports must look like...
Perhaps now Obama can claim that this was the cop he referred to as “acting stupidly”, he just didn’t know it was a prophesy at the time he said it.
So, we can assume that comments like “whitey”, “cracker” and “hymietown” would cause Sharpton, Farrakhan and Jackson lose their jobs, too, right?
Oh... wait... never mind.
I wonder if this is a case of EUI- emailing under the influence.
He sent the email to members of the National Guard and the Boston Globe!
What an idiot.
Well, all that excellent work Officer Crowley did that marginalized the race-baiting industry and gave Zero a public-relation’s black-eye has completely went down the crapper. You can always count on some moron who spoils it for the rest the group.
Yeah, he mixed two of them together. And how stupid does a man have to be to say, let alone write, something like that?
This whole thing has me shaking my head.
What a dumbass.
Volunteer or ‘put up job’?
I’ll bet he is a liberal pretending to be a conservative.
Now they can all ‘move on’ and talk about this cop and refuse to talk about the real cop and the real caller.
Very dumb. Probably alcohol involved. His police officer days are numbered. Maybe the military can offer him full-time employment, but he certainly won’t be getting any attractive assignments with this display of ultra-poor judgement on his record.
There is racism in America, with people of all colors engaged in it. It really makes those Americans of all races who are not race conscious have to absorb the brunt of the idiocy race hustlers from all races can gin up to make money off of anger and hate. I don’t want to be wearing racial antennae all the time. It pisses me off that these racist bastards cause the relationships between races to be strained because of what the racists gin up rather than allowing Americans to be, well, fellow Americans. My black neigho=bor down the street should not be forced to play race games wondering if I’m going to say something he should take offense to because some bastard like Jackasson, Dyson, Obama, etc. tells him he should. When will the democrat get their damned feet out of the doors between me and my neighbors? They’re gettng in the way of livin’!
I do not think anyone is going to want to hire a former cop who cannot get his racial slurs right and cannot spell.
Alcohol is the most likely explanation. This is beyond just “stupid”.
Sounds like he has decided to make the military his career, rather than police work. However, a few weeks in a government re-education and sensitivity training course and he will survive (military version of rehab).
