President Barack Obama said on Wednesday a healthcare overhaul was central to his economic recovery effort and vowed to push reforms through this year, as he scrambled to overcome doubts about the plan in Congress. "If we do not control these costs, we will not be able to control our deficit," Obama said in excerpts of prepared remarks for his opening statement at a prime-time news conference to be held later on Wednesday.
Obama was set to take his case to the American public for a broad healthcare revamp even as congressional leaders struggled to find common ground on the cost and scope of a proposal that the president has made his top legislative priority.
"As we rescue this economy from a full-blown crisis, we must rebuild it stronger than before. And health insurance reform is central to that effort," Obama said.

WE need to be put into a position of maximum compliance to Washington.

The whole argument is not about gaining coverage for Americans or illegals. The fact is that Medicare is broke. Completely.
Interest payments alone that we owe foreign governments on the debt will throw us into an untenable position.
The Federal Government is broke.
They need to raise lots of cash quickly and are using this smoke screen is the way to do it.

I keep waiting for anyone with a bully pulpit ANYWHERE to say something about the fact that 30 Million of the uninsured aren’t supposed to be here anywhere. Or anyone anywhere to say “Want to cut expenses and fix something - start with the CHIP program and Medicare - let’s see some results with what you already have and then we’ll take a look at what you’ve done in a year or so.
I’ve pretty much reached Galt’s Gulch status.
I can take care of my family and up and leave if I wish.
The majority are determined to create a country they don’t want to live in, and they don’t realize yet just what a misery is coming to them.
