Really are worlds apart [Palin musings]

You've just gotta love Sarah Palin! Unless, perhaps, she's your state's governor, and her antics are distracting the state from its business.

Or unless you're Mitt Romney, trying to make the next Republican presidential primary campaign a sober affair that you can control. Or unless you're Mike Huckabee, fearful of being outflanked on the anti-abortion right. Or unless you're an Arctic wolf, dodging large-caliber bullets fired from a helicopter. Other than those, I can't think of any good reason not to thank Providence for sending her to us.

Named after a feisty Jewish lady – the very first Jewish lady, as a matter of fact – who gave birth at the age of ninety, our Sarah's a chip off that old block. You may recall that the first Sarah felt disrespected by her husband's slave, who'd borne him a son. She complained, and her husband sent the slave away to die in the wilderness with her son. But God saved them at the last second, just as he'll save the media mavens currently savoring our Sarah's discomfiture.

It's hard for us here in what Alaskans call "the Lower Forty-Eight" to appreciate the distance between us and them – and I don't mean just geography – unless we spend some time with Alaskans and listen carefully. The sobriquet is often loaded with sarcasm, as in, "I could never live with all the (deleted) regulations y'all have down there in the Lower Forty-Eight!"

If there’s any confusion about the meaning of the word “snarky,” this piece defines it. No substance, all snark.

It sometimes helps to be aware of the depths of your enemy’s deranged thinking.

The preoccupation/obsession/fatal attraction to someone they deem soooo inconsequential is totally beyond illogical. It’s like atheists fighting so hard against Someone they say doesn’t exist.

This from Vermont,

Where the author's own Senator (Sanders) just voted to exempt the Congress from any new healthcare reform plan. But he is more concerned about Sarah Palin.

He also apparently doesn't know the difference between Tina Fey and Sarah Palin, since in the article, he refers to Sarah not really being able to see Russia from her house, as if she ever said that she could.

What a jerknozzle.

The best possible thing that can happen for any state is for its "business" to be distracted.

Every leech in the world is afraid of a Governor that can run a state solvently.

Willem, if I lived and worked in the state that gave America Howard Dean, I think I’d think twice before making fun of any other state’s governor for the foreseeable future.

I’m sitting here about 100 miles south of the Arctic Circle, hundreds of miles from the end of the North American road system, and I can tell you based on 30 years of experience in Alaska that this writer is sharing caricatures and stereotypes which have little to do with the reality of living here.

I could go ahead and give the same treatment to Vermonters, or New Yorkers, or Southerners, but frankly, after reading this person’s rambling nonsense, I’m just plain tired. Please take it from someone who actually lives here - and has had the pleasure of sitting across the table from Sarah Palin - this writer speaks from ignorance and malice about the place and the person.

And, in typical liberal fashion, he confuses a Tina Fey joke with something that Sarah Palin supposedly said. *sigh*

This “writer” must be reading a different bible from the translation I have. The story my Bible carries has Sarah sending HER servant in to Abraham to bear a child because Sarah thought herself barren.

Then again, it’s been several weeks since I read that passage, perhaps my memory is weak...

Actually with declining gas prices since last year Alaska had to make budget cuts and they did.
