You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. You don't understand it. Sure, maybe she has accomplished a few things (like the $26 billion dollar natural gas pipeline deal, restructuring Alaskan government, and taking an ice pick to corrupt politicians). But she has no style, no pizzazz -- she just does stuff. But so do you -- and you can't understand why you don't get the same adoration. After all, didn't you go before the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission and not just protest, but elegantly protest -- so said The New York Times -- a 16-story tower a developer wanted to build in your ritzy Upper East Side Manhattan neighborhood? Sarah Palin wouldn't have done that; she's not brilliant enough to understand preservation. She probably would have looked at the jobs the construction would create and given it a déclassé "Hell yeah!"
Peggy Noonan defines the phrase “Style over Substance”.
Sarah Palin appeals to some on a gut level, a gut that senses her openness to God's Love and Grace (Trig is getting it through her) and will humble herself before the Lord when she needs guidance. That is over the top to the majority of American voters who keep that god guy in a secure bottle for occasional viewing. They sensed George Bush got on his knees when he sought Guiadance. It never set well with the elites don'tchaknow.
Is it the same no. of people who think that George W. Bush said the banal “Either you are with us or against us?” He, in fact, accurately called out the Europeans when he said, “Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.” Not long after, Spain answered, “We are with the terrorists.”
Parsy, who considers himself pithy, is simply simple-minded.
I thought I heard Palin say it in a Couric interview. If it was Tina Fey, either I am very stupid, or else Tina Fey is one heck of a good actress.
So, for real, who said it?
parsy, who is hoping he hasn’t started his day off completely insane...
And all Spain did was embolden the terrorists. Muslims have stated that it’s their intention to “retake” Spain and make it subject to Islam as it once was. Spain is quickly going downt the toilet.
Sorry pal, but you are confusing the Aleutians with Big and Little Diomede Islands.
Got your point though.
Like many commentators on Palin, Kristia Cavere at Renew America makes simple assumptions about why people strongly support Sarah Palin. For instance, its because she is ‘one of us’, or because she was so savagely attacked in the Media. all while her supporters overlook her alleged inability to articulate on policy issues and give good interviews, even to ‘friendly’ interviewers like Sean Hannity.
I think Cavere is missing an important aspect of why people support Palin. It seems to me that a key difference between those who are positive to Palin and those who are not is this. Those who are positive have taken the trouble to actually examine her career and accomplishments closely; her detractors have not, or if they have, ignore or surpress them. The emphasis here is what she actullay did; no one is suggesting that she can spout like your average policy wonk. Arguably, between January 2007 and the end of her second legislative session in April 2008, Governor palin accomplished more than her predecessor had in 25 years, and with massive bipartisan support. Arguably she did more in that time than Barrcak Obama or Hillary Clinton had done in their entire careers, in spite of their capacity to ‘talk the talk’. It is the real ability to ‘walk the walk’ that wins support for Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin said that you can see Russia from Alaska.
She is precisely correct.
Parsy has started his day off completely insane.
Actually, the joke's on Tina -- which makes it even funnier.
You really can see Russia from several points in Alaska.
But, she saved her best insults for Sarah Palin. Claims the best thing about the last election was not obama winning but that Sarah Palin is no where near the White House, etc. I think she would enjoy Noonan's columns and I"m sure Peggy writes them for people like my sister, kindred spirits all.
I first started questioning Peggy Noonan’s “conservative” bona fides a few years ago when she sent her child to St. Ann’s school in Brooklyn, which has a far-left viewpoint and teaches about gays and trannies starting in 2nd grade. My wife’s cousin sent her kids there. One now works for Obama, and the other for the ACLU.
I'm still at a loss to determine the best approach for the party, leave the party, and tell all of those snobs & out of touch worthless politicians to shove it, or stay and take years to rebuild?
Sorry it has taken me a few minutes to get back to you. When two or three freepers told me it was Tina Fey who said this, and not Palin, I involuntarily soiled myself.
After cleaning up, I went to youtube and got this:

So, I think this is Palin, but I am not good on names and faces. If I am wrong, please correct me.
One thing I notice that I didn’t before, is that Palin(?) talks about the “mocking”, so did Tina Fey make the joke BEFORE the interview with Couric?
If so, Palin would naturally be on the defensive and this is an aspect that I was not aware of when I shot my mouth off.
So, while I am not yet in full retraction mode, I am open to a slight attitude adjustment if this was the case.
parsy, who is looking around for a place to hide if it becomes necessary.
“tis better to keep ones mouth closed and be regarded a fool, than to open it and dispel any doubt. parsy, who makes valuable contributions from time to time, would do well to heed that advice.”
I try, I really do. But you might want to read “How I Edited An Agricultural Paper” by Mark Twain. Sadly, that guy is who I am. I’ll try to find a link.
parsy, who has temporarily duct taped his mouth shut
Hmmm.
It appears there is confusion on all sides of this.
Sarah's initial remark about Russia appears not to be in the Couric interview. However I do believe that the front porch remark was Tina Fey's.
Which raises the questions, where was the first remark made by Sarah on the subject of Russia and do we have a transcript or YouTube of it?
Here is the link:

And, please, when I am wrong about something, let me know. I really do try to stay informed and if I am off base, I want to know. I may not always agree, but I will certainly examine my beliefs.
parsy, who is not perfect by a long shot
