It’s not a politician thing, it’s a human thing. You may be devoted to your wife or girlfriend Chet. But 40-60% of marrieds cheat. The difference is when Lou the barber cheats on his wife, you don’t hear about it. (unless she maims or kills him).

So, yeah we know why Chip mysteriously crapped out and retired. He knew his wife would have spilled the beans and sunk him.

The wife’s “alienation of affection lawsuit” is pretty ridiculous. Just looking for more money. I’ve never heard of such lawsuits.

Pardon me the wife didn’t threaten, the mistress threatened to dump him as he would have had to stay married. He chose the mistress over the Senate and now is a lobbyist for her daddy. How charming.

What I read or heard (can’t remember the source) was that approximately 50% of men and 35% of women who are married cheat.
