JACKSON, Miss. – The estranged wife of former U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering claims in a lawsuit that the Mississippi Republican had an affair that ruined their marriage and derailed his political career.

Leisha Pickering said in the lawsuit filed this week that her husband and the woman dated in college, reconnected and began having an affair while he was in Congress and living in a building where several Christian lawmakers reside on C Street near the U.S. Capitol. Chip Pickering is the third Republican with ties to the building at 133 C Street SE to find his personal life making headlines in recent weeks, after Nevada U.S. Sen. John Ensign and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.

Now we know the reason why Chip Pickering didn’t run for Trent Lott’s Seante seat in 2008. It’s a shame. Chip Pickering would have a been shoo-in for either Governor or Senator.

I’m sorry.... but at some point... I really don’t care.

Really.

Honest.

Specially if it comes from a divorce situation.

Maybe before we go out and support a new politician, we need to test him with a lovely lady coming on to him first... (or man, if that’s what he’s into...)

Well, the Repubs continue to implode, or is that explode. At least the latest few show they are virile and straight if not trustworthy.

This story, in it’s entirety, is proof of the morality that resides in the Republican Party.

Guys, we have the word of a soon-to-be ex wife. That alone makes the whole accusation suspect.

Second, if we threw out everyone in DC that has had sex w/ someone-not-their-spouse the place would be a ghost town. As anyone who has gone there w/ a special someone will attest, DC is about the most romantic, and most sexually charged place, in the country. (As my Canadian friends said when they saw the Washington Monument, “What part of Washington are you memorializing?!?!”)

It’s beginning to make sense why some of our people opted not to run for higher office.

What the hell is it with these politicians??

Speaking to a senate aide of long standing, I was informed that, “They all do it. Doesn't matter if they're Dems or Reps. They all do it”. I though this was remarkably uncharitable. I mean, how how could it be true? These are our representatives, the cream of the crop. The fullness of time has proven that I was full of youthful optimism, with poor situational awareness.

Yup. I'm beginning to think that those politicians are worse than airline pilots. When there's no adult supervision, the boys tend to run wild. Perhaps we'd best assume that they're all acquiring something on the side, unless proven differently. It's a far safer bet.

Of course, the media seems all but happy to help “out” Republicans on alleged infidelities, but cover up for their rodent friends, who often do far much more and far much worse.

At least the latest few show they are virile and straight if not trustworthy.

Men who surreptitiously cheat on their wives are in no way "virile". They are effete cowards hiding in the shadows because they can't even face a woman with the truth. If a real man wanted to have sex with someone not his wife he would tell her first. These nancy boys don't have the guts. I have no sympathy for their "falling from grace".
