N. Korea starts making 1st biopic about leader Kim

- North Korea has started making its first documentary about Kim Jong Il's life amid renewed speculation about the 67-year-old leader's health and who will inherit leadership of the communist dynasty.

The retrospective film would be a rare acknowledgment that Kim is getting on in years. South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper noted Thursday that the regime began producing a similar 20-part film about Kim's late father, national founder Kim Il Sung, in 1993—a year before he died of heart failure.

The younger Kim is the subject of an intense personality cult inherited from his father. Talk of his health is considered a taboo in the totalitarian nation, and North Korean officials have strongly denied reports that the leader suffered a stroke.

Analyst Koh Yu-hwan of Seoul's Dongguk University said the move appears to be aimed at laying the groundwork for naming one of Kim's sons as his successor.

"A Kim Jong Il biopic would be closely related to Kim Il Sung," the professor said. "That could be used to demonstrate the inevitability of a son (of Kim Jong Il) taking over so as to make North Korean people to accept the succession as a matter of tradition."

-snip-

Pyongyang's state media said Wednesday that the country has produced the first part of a Kim Jong Il film that "will comprehensively deal with the immortal 'songun' (military first) revolutionary exploits performed by" Kim.

The first part is about Kim's birth and youth, and how he advanced "military ideas and theories and tactics of President Kim Il Sung," the official Korean Central News Agency said.

But she declined to comment on what the new film might signify about Kim's health.

A showpiece of objectivity and accuracy compared to our MSM portrayal of Obama.

Will Oliver Stone or Michael Moore direct it? Instead of popcorn, I assume North Korean theatregoers will be able to buy tree bark, grass and crickets at the concession stand...

The Pharaoh’s got pyramids, Lenin and Stalin got a mausoleum, all this bum gets will be a cheesy propaganda film that would make Leni Riefenstahl and Eisenstein cringe. Not much for an entire career of Dictating and despoting.

Will they include Kim Jong Il’s claim to be able to play a par 72 golf course in 34 shots, including 11 hole-in-ones? Seriously, that’s what the Nork govt claims: http://www.worldgolf.com/blogs/william.wolfrum/2005/10/04/a_golfing_debut_with_11_aces_makes_kim_j

Of course, that’s only slightly less incredible than claiming that Mrs. Obama is a fashion plate and one of the best looking women in the world (/barf). So if our press can pimp such bilges, I guess that I can’t blame the Nork’s press for doing what they do, esp when they can earn a bullet to the head for failing to tow the party line. Our press has no such excuse - yet...

Geez, JJ! I can hardly wait till the DVD goes on Walmart's 2/$5 rack.

South Korea can sell DVD players to the DPRK at bargain basement prices (and cleanup on the mark ups of extension cords).

Wonder when the posters and portraits start coming out with Prince Kim Jon Un's picture on it, next to Dad and Grand Dad.

The NK party elite and DPRK embassies abroad already had to sign a death oath of allegiance to the young boy. It is even said in the certificate (oath) that the Norkies purposely added on 10 years to the boy's age, making him 35.

Watch moronic Washington, D.C. offer to send a former US President (Bill and Jimmy can arm wrestle over the "honors") or a sitting VP or maybe even Hilary, to Pyongyang for the funeral of the fat, short-donged One. I predict it. (as long as there are not bullets flying all around every which way between factions in the DPRK at the time)....

I doubt the bullets, though not Obama’s sending a wreath.

The NorthKongs have a pretty repressed society.

It is terribly internecine and volatile, just under the surface, between individuals and cliques, because the whole thing is based on bribery/payoffs, threats of murder or torture, lies and hatred/rivalry. It could well break out into something open.
