Alec Baldwin: I'd like to run for Congress

As speculation continues to swirl over Sarah Palins presidential ambitions, the equally colourful and controversial co-star from her Saturday Night Live appearance has announced he too may seek public office from the other side of the political spectrum.
Alec Baldwin, the outspoken and famously ultra-liberal Hollywood star mercilessly sent in the puppet satire Team America, has been rehabilitated from the showbiz dead by his scene-stealing role in US television show 30 Rock and has now put word out that he is seeking a seat to run for Congress in 2012.
Baldwin, whose political entanglements include blogging for the Huffington Post and repeatedly tangling with Fox News attack-dog Bill Reilly, told Playboy magazine that he was looking for an opportunity to run when his 30 Rock contract ends in 2012.
The desire is there, thats one component, he told the magazine. The other component is opportunity.
Baldwin has already ruled out offers to run as a governor in Ohio or California. But I would have to live in California. And who wants to live in California? he asked.
Asked if he would be qualified for such a race in any case, he quipped: That's what I hate about Arnold Schwarzenegger. His only credentials are that he ran a fitness programme under some bygone president... I'm (Alexis) de Tocqueville compared to Schwarzenegger."
Baldwin said that his fantasy opponent would be Joe Liebermann, the former conservative Democrat from Connecticut who went independent after losing the party ticket. In the end, however, he conceded that his political ambitions lie in his native New York.
Here anything can happen, Mr Baldwin said. People get sick, die. Theyre offered lucrative deals and want to cash in and make money for their retirement. People misstep. Unfortunately, an opportunity for me may mean bad things for someone

He should run from MN. The brain-dead voters there don’t mind being represented by clowns.
To: Schnucki
Good God. That's it I'm outta here. He will probably win, just because the idiots must outnumber the sane (i.e. see Franken election)There is no hope unless like minded people gather together and put an end to this celebrity madness. Someone will probably run MJ for some office ...and he will win

He should run against Amy Klobuchar in 2012. Then MN can have twin celebutards to “represent” them in the Senate. Fitting for that state, I’d say.

Depending on where he runs, he probably would win. My question to him is why??? He makes much more money in hollywood then sacrificing your life to government work. It does not makes sense.

“sacrificing your life to government work”
Er....Last I looked Gov’t work leads to all sorts of riches. Gore and, before elective office, Trailer Trash Clinton are two very good examples. Being an ex-Gov’t Official is very, very lucrative. You just have to pay the dues before being admitted to the club.

The political climate aka RAGE that’s growing is not going to be friendly to Liberals running for office or Liberals and RINOs in office. I base that on all the conversations I’ve overheard and conversations I’ve had with associates.
To: napscoordinator
sacrificing your life to government work You don't really believe this do you? There are few easier glide paths to wealth in America than politics, especially at the federal level. Nobody leaves Congress broke.

Well he's certainly qualified. He's shot his mouth off on national television, looking berzerk. He's shot his mouth of showing how out of touch on the issues he is.
Why he'd make a fine Democrat Congressman. He's very representative of the ones we have now, and the posters at D.U., Daily KOS, Moveon.Org, and HuffnPuffingotn Post crowd.
It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween on Capital Hill these days... the trolls are out in public now. What's Baldwin if not just one more dreg...
The following is directed to Freepers who haven't signed up for monthlies...

is good. 100% is better. Let's go Freepers.
Monthly donorship is a good way for us to avoid having to do the Freepathons. Besides, it's a great way to pony up in style.
If you're on the verge of becoming a monthly donor or you think you would like to up your monthly donation a bit, has Jim got a deal for you.
Check this out. There's an added incentive for a limited time only. (Always wanted to type that...)
Thanks to Freepers who have been frequenting the Freepathon thread to ham it up with folks over there. It helps to raise the visibility of the Freepathon.
Jump into the Monthly Donorship special thread too. There are horderves, hot women with short skirts, and beer too. Alert, the pizza just showed up! It's a partaaaee...
Ladies, there were 15 lifeguards over there a few minutes ago. (I'm beginning to feel a bit guilty... heh heh heh...)

Yeah, it's only $186,000. ayear, but it's all the money you can steal. have you ever noticed how someone could enter congress or the senate with no money and retire a few years later with millions of $’s
John Glenn was bankrupt after his first run for Senate. When he retired from “public Service” he was worth over $20 million and was a major stakeholder in RC Cola. Wow a great pilot and great investor. all that money and never made more than $120K a year in congress

My two equal reactions to the thought:

---ROTFLMAO, ROTFLMAO!!!!
On second thought, he would fit right in today's Congress--isn't he one of the ones who said he would leave the country if Bush won again and then he reneged on his word--yep, a ringer for Congress.
