And quitting really got Dole far, didn’t it?

He quit to run for president, by the way.
He was the Republican candidate for President. He had won the nomination.

If Sarah Palin was going to follow Dole’s example, she would have quit when McCain picked her as his running mate, not 8 months after they lost. The only example of Dole’s she followed was losing an election as the VP candidate to Jimmy Carter.

Her real reason for quitting is so she can write a book and cash in on her fame before it’s all gone.

That is the elephant in the room. Look, she could start a legal fund tomorrow and have 200K by weeks end and 500K within a month to pay off her legal fees. I have noted many Freepers talking about her going on speaking tours and ranking in huge sums. She loses all moral high ground if she is seen to be enriching herself at the expense of the Alaskan people and American public.

She has a book coming out, I know she is going to sell a ton of copies, money should not be a driving factor.

Dole quit when running for President.
If Palin runs for President, she too will have quit to run for President.

Dole wasn’t criticized for it and neither should Palin.

It’s funny, her quitting could be second guessed if she doesn’t run for President, but if she does run for President, it’s to be expected, as Dole did it without being criticized.

Writing a book is a good idea. Obama's book helped him be a familiar (although faked) figure to the American voters .

THEN he ran for President.

and you know her real reason -- how?????? I suppose it is okay for people like you to throw stones, you don't have ankle-biters following you around and filing ethics complaints against you every time you turn around. Maybe you are independently wealthy, she is not and this is bankrupting her. Did you contribute to the fundraiser to help retire her debt?

If she leaves the state they file complaints against her, the woman who has filed most of the complaints even had someone in New York she was asking how much the freaking flowers they gave Palin cost because she was going to file another complaint if Sarah didn't declare the cost of the "gift" of flowers.

In addition to her personal finances there was the absolutely horrible things the media was trying to do to her kids as well as the ankle-biters. Did you know they filed a complaint against her because Piper had a lemonaid stand at the governors mansion and another guy -- got in a wad because too many tourists were going up the street un Juneau to try and get a glimpse of her or the kids at the governors mansion. All this was costing Palin money as well as taking away from what she was trying to accomplish in the State of Alaska -- plus it was costing the state a whole lot of money.

BEfore you and others throw stones perhaps you should actually look at what she has been going through because she had the audacity of accepting McCain's invite to run for Veep last year and stand in her shoes for a while...
