GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM, NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER
State of Alaska Governor's Office ^ | 3 July 2009 | State of Alaska Governor's Office

GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER July 3, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will not seek a second term as Governor of the State of Alaska and will relegate the power of governor to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell in order to serve Alaska’s best interests. Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will move into Parnell’s current role.

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing's more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Governor Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Standing outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Governor Palin reflected upon some of the administration’s accomplishments for Alaska as she approaches her final year in office. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor. Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

Her critics may have won a battle, but she is going to war, in my opinion. She will not be silent, and she will be free to speak her mind.

AND SHE SAID IT ALL WITHOUT A TELEPROMPTER!

Methinks the pantywaist libs will rue the day they went after Sarah's family.

This is smart.

If she would have only announced that she was not seeking a second term, it would have left her too vulnerable to further attack.

This will allow her free reign to fight/attack back.

It's interesting to see and read how that quote on her fridge is even playing out on these threads.

Anyone that reads her speech can fully understand what is going on.

I say TRUST her.

These idiots in the MSM should NOT be celebrating and gloating.

Frankly, I hope they keep it up, and show the folks watching just how despicable they are, at least those who didn't already know.

Palin won't be a candidate again, but she will be the leader of the conservative movement from outside. This is sad news, but there's a cloud in the silver lining. We need a Goldwater to jerk the Republican Party back to its conservative roots.

“All other considerations aside, the fact that this woman — not wealthy, not an Ivy Leager, not a Washington Insider — was forced into half a million dollars of personal debt to defend her own integrity against the same wealthy, Ivy League, Washington Insider POWER PEOPLE who hated her, and they accused her of “Ethics violations” WITH TAXPAYER MONEY. DISGUSTING!
If Sarah Palin can’t serve as a Governor without being impoverished and so tied up with red tape and political vendettas at the behest of other politicians, then NO common sense, NORMAL people can. And if that’s the case, there will be NO “reform” of the American political system from within....”

Amen Brother.... We have a winner!!!!!

Not even finishing her first term. Not too good.

Sarah thinks outside the box. It's a good move.

That is a great excerpt, and she followed it brilliantly with this:

"No. Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time... to BUILD UP.

And there is such a need to BUILD up and FIGHT for our state and our country. I choose to FIGHT for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and LIFE... I’ll work for and campaign for those PROUD to be American, and those who are INSPIRED by our ideals and won’t deride them."

With those words, Sarah is throwing down the gauntlet.I suspect we'll see alot of her in the weeks and months ahead, campaigning for like minded candidates for office all across America, leading up to the 2010 Elections.

I see it as a real positive development for the conservative cause, and an extremely smart move on her part.

Sarah’s brave decision to leave her job will have a devastating effect on the State Media and the Socialist’s, now they have to start trying, way early, to pick the Republican candidate for president in ‘12 for us.

Thanks for the transcript Covenantor!

I trust Sarah with this one. She has shown courage, determination and vision for Alaska. She is the real deal and with God before her she will prevail. Like she said some day she will share the details of this decision process.

God bless you Sarah and your precious family!

I really liked SP, but she was either naive or a little out of her league, because she didn’t seem prepared for just how vicious the liberal press is to a conservative in the national spotlight.

She wasn't even fully out of the gate, and you dumped her because of a couple of bad interviews? Maybe you ought to give her a second or even third look. Unleashed from the McCain campaign handlers, she just might surprise you.

Think before you start spouting nonsense like that!

It is absolute truth. And, yes, I am an Independent.

She made a commitment to the people of Alaska. If she didn't want to run for re-election, OK, that is her prerogative. I think she could have used the experience of a second term to strengthen her credentials.

But to quit before her first term is even finished simply gives her critics and detractors all the ammunition they could want.

It now allows them to label her a "quitter".

“She gave in - could not take it....is how it will appear no matter what occurred.”

Only to those who look to the MSM to define the news for them. There is a whole new world for many patriots, #1 turn the TV off. #2 Think and reason for yourself. #3 stop whining #4 due something worthwhile today like opposing the take over of our government. #5 get involved in ways you never have before #6 Challenge yourself to be BOLD.

No way Sarah gave in. Read the message on her parents fridge.

She should have, at the very least, finished her *first* term as Governor.

She made a commitment to do that.

I really don't know she is thinking.
