No word as to why but Stephanopoulos has a hunch. If it’s related to her plans for next year, which way should Palinistas be rooting? Presumably they hope she’s not running for reelection so that she can devote herself full time to building a presidential campaign, a la Tim Pawlenty, but there’s no telling with the ‘Cuda. Is she going national or going away?
She’s still a favorite to win if she runs again, but not nearly as much as she once was.

Speculation is raging both in Alaska and in the Lower 48 that she'll reveal her plans regarding next year's gubernatorial race.

My guess is that she will not seek re-election.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will make what her office is only calling an "announcement" at 11 AM local (3 Eastern) from her home in Wasilla.
She should not run for reelection. She needs to get ready for 2012. She can’t leave Alaska just midterm.
I think I’d like to see her not run for re-election and announce that she’s accepted an appointment as a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in DC once she finishes her second term. That would give her a reason to move to DC—and a platform to speak and write on a range of governance issues.
