As Predicted, State-Run Media Props Up Failing Obama Economy
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: "US consumer confidence took an unexpectedly steep slide in June." That's from Reuters.  "Unexpectedly!" Every bit of economic news is "unexpected." What were they expecting?  A big rebound?  Let's go to the audio sound bites.  I want to take you back to me on this program, January 9th of this year.

RUSH ARCHIVE:  We're going to start seeing stories that will not be true, that feature man-on-the-street interviews with people whose lives are starting to get a little bit better, they see the light at the end of the tunnel now, they go on more job interviews and they're doing a little bit better.  The Drive-Bys will start setting the stage to create the impression in the minds of people that we're coming back, when we are not.  Just as they try to set up this mood that we're going to hell in a handbasket when we're not, notice how that works.  That convinces people, the old saw about, "Well, I'm doing fine but I'm hearing on the news my neighbor is about to lose his job, we're in trouble here."  So how does it play when you're out of work but you hear that other people are getting jobs?  If you are an Obama voter, you think your time is just around the corner, you gotta be patient 'cause he's already working, his plan is already working.  If you think a demagogic, flowery spoken candidate or president with an accomplice media can't convince people things are great when they're bad you got another thing coming.  If they can convince people things are horrible when they're good, the opposite's also possible.  To this day people who are alive and voted for Roosevelt think he's the greatest president we ever had, and not because of World War II, because of Social Security, because of Medicare. So don't doubt me.

RUSH:  That was all the way back on January 9th of this year, before the Bamster even rode into office.  Now, let's go to this morning, CNN's Newsroom, the anchor Betty Nguyen spoke with Your Money host Christine Romans about the economy.  And Betty Nguyen said, "Hey, Christine! Explain this. How did we do in the first half of the year?"

ROMANS: (giddy) We've seen a spring stock market rally that has been quite incredible!  Job losses are slowing! Consumer confidence is improving! People are feeling a little better.  They're feeling better because they're spending less. They're saving more money. They're getting back to basics. There's a new frugality that's making them feel better.  There was a hu-u-uuge rally in the stock market in the second quarter. The stock market [is] telling us that it thinks things are going to get better eventually, and you're going to see that rally. If you are still invested in stocks -- if you had faith and you were buying stocks along the way this spring, you're buying them at cheap prices -- you're going to see that rally when you open up your 401(k) statement.

RUSH:  The stock market is down 120 today.  Consumer confidence, according to Reuters, "took an unexpectedly steep slide in June." Do I know these people or do I know these people?  I predicted on January 9th and here on June 30th, CNN, it's morning in America! Your 401(k) is ballooning.  We feel better spending less money. We feel better spending less money. Why? Well, because we're being disciplined. We're saving.  Do you realize how happy all of you are?  CNN just said so and this reporterette, Christine Romans from Your Money, a CNN show.  What did I tell you?  They're going to do everything they can to make you think things are great, because the stimulus is in trouble. The Obama approval index in Rasmussen is at minus two.  Remember, now, the Rasmussen approval index takes the "strongly approve" and the "strongly disapprove" and matches them up, and he is minus two. It's the first time in negative territory for the Bamster out there, and so they're trying to ramp up all kinds of fictional imagery to convince you things are great when they are not.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to go back to this CNN sound bite again, this Christine Romans.  Do you realize how outrageous this is?  I mean, this is journalistic irresponsibility and malpractice -- unless you understand that this is CNN, State-Run Media.  This is an analysis of the US economy in the first six months of the year this morning on CNN.

RUSH: This is absurd.

ROMANS: If you are still invested in stocks -- if you had faith and you were buying stocks along the way this spring, you're buying them at cheap prices -- you're going to see that rally when you open up your 401(k) statement.

RUSH: It absolutely absurd.  Obama himself said, "The stock market? We don't pay attention to it here in the White House. The stock market is knowing a tracking poll. It's up one day, down the next. I'm looking at the long term."  The truth is that families, American families have lost 20% of their wealth since January of this year, some families more than that.  This is the average.  Twenty percent!  I mean, there are trillions of dollars of wealth that have been lost in 401(k)s, pension plans, stock portfolios, people being fired.  Here, let's see.  This is State-Run Media, Associated Press:  "Unemployment rates rose in all the largest U.S. metropolitan areas for the fifth straight month in May."  How the hell does...?

How do these people get jobs, these economic people on these networks?  How do they...? Well, it's a rhetorical question.  They're hired because of the way they think, not what they know.  At any rate, "The Labor Department said Tuesday that jobless rates in May rose from a year earlier in all 372 metropolitan area it tracks. The The unemployment rate in Kokomo, Ind., jumped to 18.8 percent..."  Christine Romans, somebody needs to get you the news here.  CNN is telling everybody what a great rebound we're in here. You're doing great! You're feeling great because you're frugal. You're not spending as much. Your 401(k), you love opening the envelope. It's getting bigger out there. The stock market came back big time second quarter.  Consumer confidence is down, not up, as she said!  "Consumer confidence took an unexpectedly steep slight slide in June."

"The other metro areas posting large gains were: Bend, Ore., where the jobless rate rose to 15.2 percent, an increase of 8.8 percentage points; and North Carolina's Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton saw its unemployment rate rise to 15.4 percent, a gain of 8.5 percentage points." There are 372 metro areas that the Labor Department tracks, and in all of those areas unemployment is up, and yet State-Run Media is starting to tell us how great the economy is.  I dare say, ladies and gentlemen, the vast majority of these cities, metro areas where unemployment is up and skyrocketing -- I'll bet you -- that they're run by Democrats, and I'll betcha they've been run by Democrats for a long time.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Lou Ann in Morganton, North Carolina, hi, great to have you with us.

CALLER:  Mega dittos, Rush, from Morganton.  I am so thrilled to be able to talk to you.  You started saying something about Morganton this morning about the unemployment rate.  It is so bad here. My husband has been laid off from Caterpillar since January the 29th of this year.

RUSH:  I think you're mistaken about that, because the president of the United States said that Caterpillar was going to be rehiring people after his stimulus bill was signed into law. So your husband maybe a little bit behind. I'm sure Caterpillar is just roaring back too life with new jobs every day.

CALLER:  You're dreamin', Rush.  Here we've got a sign in the back window of our car saying, "Hey, Obama! Your stimulus ain't working 'cause I'm not."

RUSH:  (laughing) "Hey, Obama! Your stimulus ain't working because I'm not."  That's a great bumper sticker.

CALLER:  Thank you.  Thank you.  I came up with that.  Here we have been fretting over, "How is he going to get back to work?" There is no hope.  He just got a letter from Caterpillar.  They are on rolling layoffs right now with the few people they have that are still working.

RUSH:  But don't you remember Obama saying on the eve of signing a stimulus bill that Caterpillar CEO said they're going to be rehiring people left and right with a responsible stimulus package and then Obama, you know, went out there to Peoria? They had a big ceremony with the local congressman there and the carpet CEO.

CALLER:  Well, Obama thinks one thing and we know something else.

RUSH:  No.

CALLER:  We know we're going to lose our house if he doesn't get back to work soon.

RUSH:  Obama makes it up as he goes along.  He has a media that is pliant and compliant and helps him spread all these myths.  Like we played earlier today, CNN Money reporter Christine Romans talking about how great the economy is. (summarized) "We're roaring back! Your 401(k)? You can't wait to open the envelope now to see all the gains that you've made in there! The stock market had a great when we comeback in the second quarter. Wow, it's just going through the roof. Your frugality is great. You're spending less and you're happier than ever before."  This is the report from CNN today.  What Lou Ann is talking about here is AP story: Unemployment rates rose in all the largest US metro areas for the fifth straight month in May, in all 372 metro areas are tracked by the Labor Department.  The jobless rates in May rose from one year ago in all 372 metro areas.  Kokomo, into a, jumped to 18.8%.  It was 11% last year.  And I'll guarantee you most of these cities are run or have been run for many, many moons by liberal Democrats.  Who's next? Shane in Morristown, New Jersey. Hi. Welcome to the-EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER:  Hello, Rush. (garbled) Jayhawk and mega dittos via the painful liberal Northeast.  I want to make a quick point for you. I was listening to you yesterday about this cap-and-tax abomination, and who it will... It will destroy so many jobs, but it will specifically destroy the independent oil and gas industry in this country.

RUSH:  That's its intent! That's its intent.  This is what you've got to understand.  It's to destroy traditional forms of energy and go the "clean" route, all these "green" things. That's the intent.  It's like Big Oil. ConocoPhillips said, after seeing cap and trade, "Well, we're just going to shut down domestic operations, 'cause can't afford these taxes. We're just going to shut down domestic operations and we'll import more oil." Meanwhile, our brilliant president of the United States is out there saying that this bill will get us energy independence in 20 years.  Every day, every day is becoming a crock.

All the Latest on Cap and Trade
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, yesterday, in discussing cap and trade, this abomination that was voted on and passed the House of Representatives on Friday, I was explaining what I'd missed and I apologized to you for missing something so blatant. Cap and TRADE.  Trade.  Who's gonna trade?  Who's gonna monitor the trades?  Who's going to do the trades?  Who's gonna get the profit?  Who's gonna get the fees?  Who's going to get the commissions on the caps that are traded, the pollution credits and so forth?  Wall Street! Goldman Sachs.  And I speculated that these Republicans, particularly the Northeast Republicans, voted for this abomination because campaign cash from Wall Street firms weighed more than their constituents desire for the bill to not pass.  Well, according to the Washington Examiner, Kevin Mooney:

"House Republicans who received campaign donations from environmental groups helped make up the narrow margin of votes needed to send the Waxman-Markey 'cap and trade' bill over to the US Senate. The legislation passed by a vote of just 219 to 212 on Friday with critical assistance from eight Republicans," and we identify them again for you.  "They are: Mary Bono Mack (Calif.), Mike Castle (Del.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Leonard Lance (NJ), Frank LoBiondo (NJ), John McHugh (NY), Dave Reichert (Wash.), Chris Smith (NJ).  ... Political Action Committees (PACs) connected with the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, Ocean Champions and Republicans for Environmental Protection have made donations to most of these same eight Republican lawmakers in recent election cycles, according to OpenSecrets.Org. Rep. Kirk of Illinois, for instance, was among the top 20 recipients of PAC donations from environmental[ist wacko] groups in the 2008 election cycle."

This story details all of the contributions to all of these Republicans. So it wasn't Wall Street money.  It's even worse. It's environmentalist wacko money. Republicans! Republicans taking environmentalist wacko money -- and those of you who live in the districts represented by these people, you have to know that the money donated to them mattered more to them (you know, paying back that donation) than voting your desires. And probably what they instinctively think about this bill anyway.  Here are some more details about the cap-and-trade program.  You know, home sales, by the way... As Obama would say, "Most economists from across the spectrum agree."  That's how he does it.  "Economists from a wide spectrum of thought all agree..." Home sales are critical for the recovery of the American economy, and the administration is saying this, and it's true.

Home sales are critical.  So why put these provisions in the cap-and-trade bill?  Listen to this.  "Homebuyers Beware. Trying to save up for a new home? You may have to save up a little longer for your purchase. The Democrats’ bill would dramatically increase new home costs by mandating California’s expensive new building codes for the entire nation. Immediately upon enactment, the Democrats’ bill would demand a 30 percent increase in energy efficiency for new construction. A couple of years later, the Democrats’ bill would require an additional 50 percent improvement. These numbers were chosen with no concern for cost to consumers or feasibility in implementation," and most people voting on it didn't even know these provisions were in the bill 'cause there was not a bill. So this is going to stifle the American economic recovery because it's going to stifle home sales.  That's just one of two or three items I want to tell you about.

President Obama Aligns with Marxist Dictators on Honduras
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We got a call from Honduras and I want to take it, it's Jim. Jim, I'm glad you got through to us today. Welcome to the EIB Network.

CALLER:  Thank you, Rush, I appreciate you putting me on the line. I'm calling you right now from Honduras.

RUSH:  What city?

CALLER:  I can't tell you, Rush, because that could possibly put my family in danger.

RUSH:  You're kidding!

CALLER:  No, I'm not kidding.  If this situation gets any worse, Rush, Americans are going to be kicked out.  If what Obama has done to support a known dictator in Mel Zelaya, who has been taken out by the government peacefully -- Rush, I need to tell you, it's not a coup, which is what is being reported by CNN.  A coup did not happen, did not take place.  It was peacefully done, there was nobody killed, there was nobody put in danger, and the military put the control right back to the Congress, and they peacefully took care of business.

RUSH: Yeah, I think a recap of what happened here is called for.  There's a constitution.  The current president wanted to violate it and continued to serve in office.  The Supreme Court and the legislature there both agreed he couldn't do so.  He ignored them.  Then the military came in and replaced him.  There was no violence, as you say.  And as it is now, you have dictators Chavez and Castro along with the US President Barack Obama agreeing with the hopeful dictator of Honduras.  It is an amazing and breathtaking thing to watch.  I have some comments about this after you tell us what else you wanted to say about it.

CALLER:  Yeah, Rush, I just wanted to let you know if they are allowed back in -- they are currently in Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega is also involved in this -- if they are allowed back in the country, Chavez is threatening to attack this country.  I don't know if you're aware, Rush, you probably are, that Ronald Reagan put two US military bases here in this country, and I don't know what's going to happen, Rush, but I'm afraid.  I've been here 14 years as a missionary.  There's many Americans here, and about 95% of this country, Rush, is against what's going on with the president that was taken out.  There's a very, very small majority, basically your drug lords, your gang members, your thugs that are supporting Mel Zelaya and the rest of the regime from Venezuela and Nicaragua.

RUSH:  It's amazing to watch, and, Jim, thanks so much for the call.  It's great to have an on-the-site report from down there.  Ninety-five percent of the Honduran people are opposed to their ex-president Mel Zelaya.  During his campaign President Obama made a big deal of criticizing leaders who are elected democratically but don't govern democratically and he had a chance to show that, he had the chance to demonstrate that that in Honduras and he hasn't.  He has sided with regional dictators in opposing what's gone on in Honduras.  Now, I want to put it to you this way.  You have the country, Honduras, you've got a president, and there's a constitution, and this president is limited to how many terms he can serve.  He didn't like that.  He wanted to blow that out.  He undemocratically stated, "I'm staying in office."  This alarmed their version of Congress, the legislature down there, and the Supreme Court.  Both bodies told him he was acting unconstitutionally and could not do it.  He ignored them and essentially told them to go to hell.  It was at that point that the military went in and took him out peaceably.

The guy's got a point here, it really wasn't a coup.  It was the constitution being upheld.  It was not a government being overthrown.  It was a government being upheld, a government being sustained and getting rid of somebody who wanted to turn into an Ortega, who wanted to turn into a Chavez, who wanted to become a Castro, and these are the people our president of the United States is siding with.  Now, why?  Why?  I'm going to tell you something, folks.  The Drive-Bys and the State-Run Media are not going to bring this up.  But it's time to lay it out.  The US foreign policy is out of control.  There isn't one.  I can't determine what our foreign policy doctrine is.  It is a mess.  It's incoherent.  Our president is sending conflicting signals all over the country, and I think we're being laughed at as we stand up and support this dictatorship or would-be dictatorship and align ourselves with other dictators in the region.

You know they have to be laughing at us in the Middle East from Saudi Arabia to Iran to everywhere around the world.  They're laughing at us because they're laughing at the naivete or at the good fortune that they have witnessed in having this man, Barack Obama, be president of the United States.  He certainly clearly seems to have inherited Marxist tendencies from his father, Barack Obama Sr.  So I think the question needs to be asked point-blank, Mr. President, if your foreign policy doctrine, so to speak, is to endorse Marxist, leftist regimes, no matter how they come to be either by force or by ballot, then you should say so.  He should be pressed to say so.  Do you support and endorse Marxist left -- well, the answer is obviously, yes!  He's very friendly with Ortega, he's very friendly with Chavez, and he hadn't met Castro yet but I'm sure that would be an old home meeting as well.  Doesn't it appear this way, folks?  He's endorsing and very friendly with Marxist leftist regimes no matter how they come to power.  Now, why?  Let us ask why, and let's get beyond the ideology.

I know some of you people are going to think that I've gone over the edge because I was up late last night 'til five o'clock working on a mysterious, secret big project which someday I hope to be able to tell you about.  But I think Obama is easily typecast.  I think he has natural sympathies toward authoritarians.  He has sympathy for dictators.  He relates to them.  He inherited his father's Marxism.  It's not me saying this.  It's somebody from the American Thinker, the Nigerian woman writing last week referring to Obama as average African colonel.  You have to wonder if Obama is just trying to lay a foundation for not being a hypocrite when he tries to serve beyond 2016.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if in the next number of years there is a move on the 22 Amendment which term limits the president of the United States.  He may not do it that way, he may not openly try to change the Constitution, but there might be this movement in the country from his cult-like followers to support the notion that a democratically elected leader, who is loved and adored has carte blanche, once elected, just serve as long as he wants because the people demand it, the people want it, the people love it.  I wouldn't put it past Obama to be plotting right now how to serve beyond 2016.

Now, I think the way he's reacting to what's happening in Honduras -- look, they've gotta constitution.  There are a democratically elected set of officials down there, and you had a guy running the country, Mel Zelaya, who was just going to basically rip that country's democracy to shreds and the country moved in to stop him from doing it and Obama sides with the guy who wanted to rip up the constitution.  He sides with other dictators in the region.  Regardless, one thing is clear here. Obama is nothing if not a hardcore liberal, always more sympathetic, appearing to side with the bad guys on the world stage.  And I'll tell you, folks, this business about serving beyond 2016, when you look at Obama's followers -- and we've discussed it here -- they are a cult-like bunch.  Their attachment to him is not political, it's not ideological, it's not issue-wise, it is cultish.  It includes a wide percentage of minorities, by the way, who, for different reasons, will come to think that he simply cannot be replaced.

Let him succeed with amnesty for example and all the illegal aliens who were instantly made citizens, he'll be too important, just like right now he's too big to fail as far as the Drive-Bys are concerned, he's too important to be replaced.  No one else can lead the nation, they will say.  They wouldn't care a whit about the legalities that might be trampled.  Half of them wouldn't care about the legalities anyway, and they don't even know about them because they haven't been properly educated.  So, you know, I think this situation in Honduras is very instructive.  I think anybody who thinks that he intends to just constitutionally go away in 2016 is nuts.  I think that's what all this ACORN stuff is all about.  I think giving ACORN money, fraudulent voter registration, whatever it's going to take, these are people who seek power for reasons other than to serve.  They seek to rule.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  By the way, the new Honduran president said that he doesn't see any way to negotiate with the Obama administration and Teguc (Tegucigalpa) is awash in rumors that Venezuela is marshaling its forces for a possibly invasion as the caller Jim from Honduras said. He's a missionary there. The Washington Post has this today.  I guarantee you Chavez and Ortega will not let this stand.  This was a move to take Honduras to a dictatorship.  This is Chavez's dream, and it's just outrageous that the president of the United States is siding with dictators on this.  Of course the rest of the world is siding with the dictators -- the World Bank, the United Nations -- but what would you expect?  The United Nations is an organization of dictators and thugs, primarily, whose primary objective is to fleece the United States of as much capital, money, as it can.

And get this.  State-Run Media, Reuters: "The U.S. Treasury said on Tuesday it has targeted an Iranian-based firm for its ties to North Korea's missile proliferation network, a move that bans U.S. companies from dealing with it. Hong Kong Electronics, located in Kish Island, Iran, has been named for transferring millions of dollars of proliferation-related funds to North Korea from Iran." Meanwhile, we are in the process of destroying our own economy. The president of the United States is telling Israeli Jews that they cannot build their own homes in their own country!  He refuses to "meddle" in Iran, but he's meddling all over the place down in Central America and in Honduras.  It's tough to keep up.  We need to know: What is the Obama foreign policy doctrine? If it is the support of Marxist, leftist regimes, however they come to power, we need to be told.  That needs to become officially stated US doctrine.  Because right now his foreign policy is all across the board. It's just a mess. It's incoherent, as evidenced by all this garbage going on in North Korea and Iran.  In case you missed it: the recount in Iran shows that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad got even more votes, just like in our country!

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  I am holding in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers a great editorial carton by the great Ramirez in Investors Business Daily.  It's a tropical setting.  Four parrots -- Castro, Chavez, Ortega, and Obama -- all squawking: "Restore the dictator in Honduras!"  It's a fabulous cartoon.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I asked for it and unbeknownst to me, I got it.  I said, "What is the Obama doctrine?"  If we're going to stand up for Marxist dictatorships around the world it's time to say so. It's time to say, "That's the American doctrine, the Obama doctrine."  Last night on PBS, the Charlie Rose Show, he interviewed former Carter national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, and Charlie Rose said, "Do you see emerging from the White House an Obama doctrine?"

BRZEZINSKI:  There is an Obama concept regarding the world.  And it's a concept to which I generally share, that is to say we live in a world in which the population of the world -- for the first time in all of its history -- is politically awakened.  A genuine political awakening of all the classes and masses in a society was a phenomena restricted to France alone, the French revolution.  But in the last 200 years, it has spread -- and in the last hundred years very rapidly -- and in the last 50 years almost everywhere.  That politically awakened world cannot be dominated anymore by the West.  Many people are really yearning and claiming self-respect because until recently they were dominated by the West, through colonialism and imperialism.  And if we understand that -- if we don't act like a late comer to the age of imperialism in the way we treat others --  I think we can manage the world.

RUSH:  Wait a minute! How can we manage the world, Zbig, if nobody wants us to anymore? We can manage the world but the West is not wanted anymore? The West can't.  The world cannot be dominated anymore by the West, yet he says that we can manage the world.  And here's we're imperialists.  Nothing we do is for good.  We're colonialists and imperialists.  So, by the way, I think Zbigniew Brzezinski is agreeing with me on the Obama doctrine.  The Obama doctrine is that the "masses have awakened and that the Sest can no longer dominate the world."  Now, one other thing.  The masses have awakened politically is absurd.  In this country, the masses are going to sleep politically! In this country, there is more political ignorance than at any time in my life.  In this country there is more political disinformation...

Political awakening?  Where?  In Obama's brother's hut?  In Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, where is this politically awakening taking place?  All these people -- the masses, the classes -- rising up and demanding their own independence? Where?  If you do that in Venezuela you get shot or you get put in jail. Same thing in Cuba.  What the in the world is he talking about?  He has just made the case for the Obama doctrine, and that is: "The United States is not a superpower. There's nothing exceptional, and we can't dominate the world."  To say we dominated the world in a forceful manner is... (sigh) There's a reason Jimmy Carter was a rotten president.  He had questionable people around him.  The United States is exceptional.  It dominates the world, as we've documented, in economic output, in lifestyle, in standard of living, in technology, medicine. It's simply because of our freedom, not because we're evil.  We're not dictators. We're not dominators. We're liberators!  And yet here's Zbigniew Brzezinski explaining the Obama doctrine as, "We're guilty. We're guilty of imperialism. We're guilty of colonialism, and so it serves us right to be cut down to size," and now we're imperialists.  This is more left-wing claptrap.  But there you have it: the Obama doctrine.

A Child of American Communists
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: All right.  David, West Bloomfield, Michigan, hi, nice to have on you the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hello, Rush, how are you?

RUSH:  Very good, sir.  Thank you.

CALLER:  I'm calling about the Obamamania.  I grew up in a Jewish communist household, and from my history and from my experience --

RUSH:  Where was the Jewish communist household that you grew up in?

CALLER:  Detroit, Michigan.

RUSH:  Detroit, okay.

CALLER:  And I have seen from my own background as well as my own hobby of history, seen this coming, and he's just the end of it or right now the pinnacle of it, for about a hundred years.  This entire movement goes back around the time of the power grab by the unions.  And they, therefore, put into place many of the things that you've talked about throughout the years, such as the control of academia, and the control of bureaucracies.  I used to see people who were --McCarthy... shall we say... accused of being communists, in my household at communist meetings when I was a little boy.  And this has just all been growing throughout this entire century, and now it's just come to full force.

RUSH:  Correct me if I'm wrong here but McCarthyism is actually correctly accusing someone of communism, identifying a communist, right?  That's what it was.  People that hated McCarthy were the commies that were identified.  There were some that were falsely accused, too, but the point is it was a rotten, bad thing to be a communist.  You had to meet in the homes of people like your parents in the basement or whatever with the windows closed and things like that, correct?

CALLER:  Exactly.  I have pictures of me with some of these people as a little boy standing next to them, so I was there, and I heard all this --

RUSH:  Well, how do you escape?  Did your parents try to raise you as a young --

CALLER:  Oh, absolutely.

RUSH:  -- simmering, bubbling up communist?  How did you escape it?

CALLER:  Absolutely.  I mean I'm from six kids, and three are on one side and three are on the other.  I had broken away from them entirely for many years, thank God before my dad passed I got back with them, but --

RUSH:  When did you do that?  What age were you --

CALLER:  Reagan.  Reagan, so I was in my mid-twenties.

RUSH:  You were communist influenced, communist sympathetic up until your mid-twenties when Ronaldus Magnus came on the scene?

CALLER:  Exactly.  Actually it was a little before that, now, that I think, you know, but I mean within that framework, '75 to '80.  I just began to realize that what I was hearing and seeing just didn't make sense and I just started to see what was on the other side, the conservative side, made sense.  And you know the history of the Jewish population in America.  But I'm not the only one I can say thankfully, but the point is there's still a huge move, and the liberal population -- the liberal establishment does not support Israel, even our own senator here, Carl Levin, he does not support Israel.

RUSH:  I know.  I know.  We have asked that question, and I've asked that question of so many people.  And the answer to it is liberals are liberals first.  Whether they're actors, actresses, whether they're Jewish, Catholic, agnostic, atheist, Buddhists, militant Islamists, they're liberals first.

CALLER:  Amen.  Amen.  But, you know, they used the term "progressive," they got tired of that one or they got slandered for that one.  So they went to liberal.  Before that they used the term communist.

RUSH:  And now it's progressive.

CALLER:  Same background.

RUSH:  Yes.

CALLER:  Progressivism, yes.

RUSH:  Now it's progressive.

CALLER:  Yes.

RUSH:  Forty percent of the people in this country, in a recent survey, Gallup, identify themselves conservative, 21% liberal.  It's still a scarlet letter to be called a liberal.  It's amazing. Republicans are losing elections in this climate.  Forty percent of Americans call themselves conservative, and Republicans are losing to absolute inexperienced fruitcake nobodies.

It's an EIB Animal Rights Update!
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Dadelut dadelut dadelut dadelut dadelut dadelut dadelut.  We gotta do an animal rights combo, animal rights, environmentalist wacko update from the archives, the Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites, Andy Williams sings our favorite animal tune.

(playing of animal rights update song)

Hey, hey, let the song establish here before going all nuclear on the ammo.

(continued playing of song)

All right, now time to drop some bombs.

(continued playing of song)

Andy Williams, our combo animal rights and environmentalist wacko update theme song.  Here's the news, and I got it from Gateway Pundit, another load of junk science because polar bear populations are booming.  "As the democrats passed the junk science 'pile of [excrement]' this past week a new report was released, and suppressed, insisting that polar bear numbers, far from decreasing, are much higher than they were 30 years ago."  Rachel, do you remember when you first came here to substitute for Dawn after having seen Algore's movie?  She came in here, she bought the whole notion that the polar bears were dying off 'cause the glaciers were melting and the polar bears are stranded on those little ice floes, bought it hook, line, and sinker.  Thankfully after exposure to this program, even on a substitute basis, you know it's now BS.  But how many kids don't?  The polar bear population is booming.  In fact, it's booming so much it's time for a cull.

"A recent study found that the population of polar bears in eastern Canada was significantly on the rise because of abundant prey.  In fact, only two of 13 polar bear populations in Canada are in decline, a researcher says.  Total population worldwide estimated at 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears."  It charts it here from polar bear populations in 2001 and on forward.  "Another report shows that polar bear encounters," meaning people that run into them, "on the North Slope oil fields have risen to record levels the last two years. The global warming religionists blame the increase in polar bear sightings on shrinking ice flows. So, now the alarmists are blaming manmade global warming on both increased and decreased polar bear populations. There are 5 times as many polar bears today as there were 50 years ago." Five times as many, and the sources: New York Times, covebear.com, International Bear Association, International Wildlife, Polar Bear Study Group.  Those are the sources for the stats, that there are five times as many polar bears today as there were 50 years ago.  Remember, in August of 2008 Sarah Palin sued the federal government seeking to reverse the decision to put the polar bear on the threatened species list.

MSNBC Pines for a Dictatorship!
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This afternoon on MSNBC, Andrea Mitchell reporting, "NBC News, Washington." She was talking to the CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt -- wait, we have an alert here, an alert.  Okay, the Minnesota Supreme Court has said it's over and Franken is the winner.  You know, it's just like they recounted the votes in Iran, folks, and Ahmadinejad actually got more votes after the recount! It's just like in this country.  In Minnesota, after the original vote count, Norm Coleman was ahead.  And in every recount thereafter, Franken got more votes, the loser.  It's amazing the similarities in the Minnesota electoral system and that in Iran.  Anyway, back to Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington. She had Eric Schmidt, the CEO of Google, on.  She said, "You said you think the economy is starting to turn for the good, that the worst of the crisis is over?  What is your outlook?"

SCHMIDT:  All of the signs that everybody sees indicate that the worst was the first part of this year. The enormous amount of stimulation that the Fed gave and that the European Central Bank has given in Europe is bringing these economies back. It's interesting, by the way, that the Chinese infrastructure stimulus was the quickest to work. But, of course, they could just do it.

MITCHELL:  Dictatorships are not always (snorts) -- or centrally planned governments can at least do some things a little bit more easily than some of our own legislative debates.

RUSH:  Did you hear that? Andrea Mitchell is agreeing with the CEO of Google that dictatorships, "not always -- centrally planned governments can at least do some things more easily than our own legislative debates"?  Except being the premise that government creates jobs, that government creates wealth, that government solves economic decline, "Damn, if we only had our own dictatorship!" Andrea, we're close to it.  You're helping us get what you're dreaming of! (scoffs)  On MSNBC they're dreaming of a dictatorship.  "I'm dreaming of a dictatorrrr," along with the Google CEO.  "Gosh, it's amazing how fast these dictators around the world can get things going."  Talk to the people in Venezuela about it.  This is just mind-boggling to observe, ladies and gentlemen.

It Can't Happen in America?
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  I was just perusing the e-mail during the top-of-the-hour break out there, ladies and gentlemen, and I have an e-mail here from somebody in North Carolina who thinks that I have lost my sanity today.  I guess it's at least positive he thought I was sane at some point.  You can't lose your sanity if you don't have it to begin with.  Greetings.  Welcome back, Rush Limbaugh and the EIB Network at 800-282-2882.  The e-mail address is ElRushbo@eibnet.com

"Hey, Rush, I think you've lost your sanity today.  President Obama cannot alone just say that he wants to continue in power. The president does not have that authority in the United States.  You're trying to put fear into your listeners' heads.  You're becoming very dangerous.  Be very careful."  Can't happen, huh?  Can't happen here, president doesn't have that authority.  I didn't say that it would be unilateral waving a magic wand.  I said there might be a move on the 22nd Amendment.  I said his cult-like followers might demand that he stay on.  He's too important not to rule, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

This whole notion, though, that the president can't do it, the president doesn't have that authority. Sir, in North Carolina -- I'm not going to mention your name because I don't want to cause you any trouble -- but there are already a whole lot of things happening in this country the president does not have the authority to do that he's doing.  The establishment of czars, 13 or 14 czars that are not subject to confirmation hearings by the United States Senate. He pays them whatever he wants them to be paid.  He tells them what to do.  They have more power than his cabinet secretaries.  "It can't happen.  The president doesn't have the authority."  Nobody is stopping him.  The president of the United States is firing chief executive officers of automotive companies.  "That can't happen in the United States.  That just can't happen.  The president doesn't have that kind of authority."  The United States government owns Chrysler and General Motors and bequeathed a majority stake of Chrysler to the United Auto Workers.  "That would never happen in America, Rush, that can't happen.  The president doesn't have that kind of authority."

People who can't pay their mortgages are being sustained in their homes and it's being called affordable housing.  "That can't happen in America.  Can't happen, Rush, president doesn't have that kind of authority."  Banks were threatened to buy other banks, banks were threatened.  We know this to be true.  Banks were threatened.  They were called into Henry Paulson's office and they were told they were going to sign the paper accepting TARP money whether they needed it or not.  "That can't happen, Rush, the president doesn't have that kind of authority.  Just can't happen."  Why is there a 22nd Amendment?  If you're over 30 and have been educated -- well, if you're over 40 -- maybe 50 -- I'll say if you're over 45 and you were educated in the American public school system, you know the answer to the question, why is there a 22nd Amendment.  If you are under 40, you may not know why there is a 22nd Amendment limiting to two the number of terms the president of the United States can serve.

Rachel, let me just use you as a guinea pig here.  Do you happen to know why -- I'm not trying to, you're proving a point here.  There's no wrong answer. (talking to Snerdley) Did you tell her?  Okay, why is there a 22nd Amendment in the United States limiting to two the number of terms the president of the United States?  Her answer is so he doesn't get too much power.  Why were people worried that the president might get too much power?  Something had to cause it.  Have you ever heard of Franklin Delano Roosevelt?  By reputation, one of the greatest if not the greatest presidents we've ever had.  He wouldn't go away. He was packing the Supreme Court.  "Can't happen in America, Rush, it just can't happen here, president doesn't have that kind of authority."  He was gonna serve for life.  He was going to become like an African colonel himself, Colonel Franklin Delano Roosevelt, he wouldn't go away, four terms.  We said, hell no!  Hello 22nd Amendment.  "Can't happen in America, Rush, why, president doesn't have that kind of authority."

How about the cap-and-trade bill passed in the House of Representatives?  Do you realize, ladies and gentlemen, that if this bill becomes law, every home in America, every new home will have to meet California's building codes?  Immediately upon enactment, this Democrat bill would demand a 30% increase in energy efficiency for new construction.  Two years after it's enacted, the Democrat bill would require an additional 50% improvement.  "It can't happen in America, Rush, people don't have this kind of authority."  A couple of more items from the cap-and-trade bill.  "The Democrats’ bill imposes new mandatory regulations and civil penalties for homebuilders.  If your state refuses to accept the stringent and costly California building codes, the federal government may assess penalties.  And don’t get too comfortable with the new mandatory regulations because the Democrats’ bill allows for 'consensus-based' codes to supplant those outlined in the bill.  So, as soon as you’ve invested your hard-earned money to comply with the bill’s mandates, the rug could get pulled from underneath you.  Translation?  You’ll pony up more and more money." "Rush, it can't happen in America, they don't have that kind of authority."

As we mentioned yesterday, if you're having a hard time selling your house, here's another hurdle you're going to have to jump if this bill actually becomes law.  "All homes sales are conditioned upon an energy audit and a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program for your home that’s outlined in the Democrats’ bill.  And if you thought you could improve your property with a fresh coat of paint and some granite counters?  Think again!  Now your home will be subjected to a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program that will penalize you for older windows, original fixtures, and dated appliances.  So the Democrats’ bill would bring down the value of your home!"

Now, home sales are critical for the recovery of the American economy.  Why put this garbage in the cap-and-trade bill?  He said it's a jobs bill.  It's a jobs killing bill.  It is a jobs killing bill, is what cap and trade is.  "Rush, the president doesn't have that kind of authority.  He can't just do these kinds of things, doesn't have that kind of authority."  How many trillions of dollars of wealth have been lost?  How much of the private sector has been grabbed by the federal government, just grabbed?  The mortgage industry, the banks are being told what to do.  We've got all these czars that I mentioned.  "Rush, it can't happen in America.  Presidents, they just don't have that kind of sweeping authority."  While you say, or while you think presidents don't have this authority, and you think that a president couldn't say, 'You know what, screw the 22nd Amendment, I'm going to do away with it, I'm too important."  Think again.  It's happening all around us.  Dictatorships are popping up all around us.

In Europe it's the opposite.  Merkel coming out for tax cuts. Hungary coming out for tax cuts. Merkel says we need growth, we need growth in Germany.  She's gonna cut taxes.  But in our hemisphere the Marxists are rising to power and they are being supported by the president of the United States.  "Yeah, Rush, come on, the president of the United States doesn't have that kind of authority.  It can't happen here."  There's a lot of stuff that you didn't think could happen here that's happening right before your very eyes and it's not happening according to the Constitution.  The President of the United States is threatening and firing CEOs.  The president of the United States with a compensation czar.  The president of the United States, not the US Congress, the president of the United States wants to determine how much everybody in this country can earn per annum.  "Ah, Rush, presidents don't have that kind of authority, can't happen here."  Folks, getting rid of the 22nd Amendment is chump change compared to what this man's already achieved that nobody thought could happen.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, "Rush, presidents don't have that kind of authority! It just can't happen here. It would never happen here."  Some of you I'm sure know this. I haven't mentioned this previously because the guy that did this is an absolute nut. But, you know, most of the House Democrats are nuts.  Most of the Democrats in the House are as far left as... Well, as we've ever had in this country, literal Looney Tunes.  Jose Serrano (I believe Jose is from Nueva York) introduced in January HJ res 5, resolution 5, to repeal the Twenty-Second Amendment.  A Democrat has already made the move.  "Eh, Rush, it can't happen here. Presidents don't have that kind of authority." No, he's a nut, but they're all nuts!  You gotta be a nut to vote for cap and trade.  You have to be a nut to conceive of it.  You have to be a whacked-out environmentalist nutcase fraud to think that cap and trade is going to help anything.  You have to be practically insane to believe that man has an effect on the climate of this planet.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: To Saratoga Springs, New York, and Michelle.  Nice to have you here.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  It's an honor to speak with you.

RUSH:  Thank you.

CALLER:  You mentioned before a couple of breaks ago that, based on this new cap and tax bill, that the government is now going to be putting an energy efficiency rating on your home when you put it on the market. I'm wondering if now will your prospective buyers be constrained by banks for a mortgage rather than because of their credit but now because they want to buy a home that isn't energy efficient?

RUSH:  Well, the way I read this is that they won't be allowed to sell, you won't be allowed to sell an energy inefficient home.

CALLER:  Oh, my gosh.

RUSH:  Before you can sell it you're going to have to modernize it, according to Obama's standards, with the proper kind of windows and drains, even if you've got a microwave oven that's not energy efficient, or a stove, you may not be able to sell the house until you make these improvements.  But, this is the point.  In the bill, these mandates can change on a whim.  The bill allows for the stated mandates to be changed any time somebody thinks that it's important to do so.  So you could embark on a plan, according to the law, to make your home energy efficient so you can sell it, and after you do all that, they could just at some point down the line change it and make it even more stringent and force you to go back and do even more, and you build that into the sale price of the house, which is going to make your house attractive to fewer buyers, the more houses cost the smaller the universe of people that can afford them.

CALLER:  Right.

RUSH:  "Now, Rush, this can't happen in America, come on, presidents don't have the kind of authority, can't have this kind of power."  It's happening.  It happened in the House of Representatives.  All it's gotta do is pass the Senate, and it's law, folks.  That's all that has to happen.  All that has to happen is this stupid thing has to pass the Senate.  Which is also run by Democrats, and we've got our share of squishy RINOs in there who buy into this environmentalist wacko garbage.  This is serious stuff.  Can't happen here, but it's happening.  When I say what I have to say, there's nothing left for them to say.  They're just sitting there with their mouths open in awe.  Well, it's partly that.  It's partly they can't believe what I just said.  When they realize what I just said is true but -- or they fainted, one of the two.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Pay dirt, folks. Pay dirt.  TIME Magazine's Mark Halperin on his blog at TIME Magazine already has the full transcript of my salient comments on the potential for President Obama to serve beyond 2016, and the headline at TIME Magazine: "The Nightmare or the Dream?"  (laughing)  People are dreaming about it! (laughing) That's my whole point.  At any rate, pay dirt.  All right.  This is how we get things in the Drive-By news cycle.  There will be discussions on this with me being proposed as a lunatic, but yet they will discuss my idea (laughing). They'll call them the rantings of a madman and then they'll start talking about it seriously and they'll get two or three days out of this on the cable networks.  They ought to be paying me.

Swooning Over Sanford's Letters
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, if you were here at almost this exact time, you recall we had a couple of examples of the chickification of the news.  Women were writing news stories about the Mark Sanford-Argentina "girl from Ipanema" affair.  I missed one yesterday because it wasn't yesterday, was it June 27th.  It is by Erika Lovley at ThePolitico.com.  "Inside Sanford's Love Letters -- It's a love story worthy of a ... Nicholas Sparks novel. A high-ranking politician sneaks away from the pressures of political life to meet his secret lover — a beautiful, intelligent brunette from Argentina. He's willing to risk anything, even a potential shot at the presidency, to be with her. In the meantime, he plies her with hopelessly romantic love letters." This piece goes on to analyze the love letters.  He's a great writer.  He's "colorful, descriptive, and unabashedly romantic, at times to the point of being schmaltzy and embarrassing."

I have a question ladies -- actually for everybody.  If you've read some of these Sanford e-mails, he pours his heart out to her.  Now, why is that "schmaltzy"?  I mean, do you think she thinks it's schmaltzy? Do you think the girl from Ipanema thinks it's schmaltzy when she gets it or is it just these prying eyes of outsiders who say, 'Oh, oh, that's schmaltzy." Ms. Lovley, would you love to get a love letter from whoever is in your life like Mark Sanford writes them and would you consider it schmaltzy?  I mean I'm not making too big a deal about this, but schmaltzy and embarrassing only to the people outside her relationship looking at it, but still the bottom line is -- and writes it -- "

What emerges is that -- regardless of the moral ambiguities of Sanford's character -- the man was a real romantic with a knack for writing. 'The most cherished gift a lover can give and receive is a love letter from the heart,' says romance coach Leslie Karsner..." You got me.  I don't know what a "romance coach" is.  I ought to look one up. (laughing) And note, note that the romance coaches are women.  I bet you don't find a guy romance coach. Well, by now you probably do.  Anyway, Leslie Karsner "sells prewritten love letters through a website called 'Love Letters Now.'" It's sort of like the Hallmark cards of love letters. "'If you take the politics out of it, it's the story of a man whose heart was captured and he was willing to run the risk of being caught.'"

They love this guy! Women are going nuts over this guy's love letters, and I just wanted to mention this because I left it out of yesterday's stack because I didn't have it. It's from June 27th, three or four days ago.  Male romance coaches, I think they're called "players." Players.  Romance coach! Prewritten love letters.  What would you think, ladies, if you got a love letter that some clown procured off the website.

By the way, an update, ladies and gentlemen.  We also had a story yesterday of TIME Magazine that marriage makes women bloat up.  In fact, not even marriage, just getting into a relationship causes women to become obese.  It doesn't happen to men but it causes women to gain weight, and this came from the magazine Obesity Today. That's the survey.

(playing of obesity spoof: Post-Commitment Bloat)

RUSH: By the way, the Associated Press just breathlessly reported that Mark Sanford has admitted to more than one liaison with the girl from Ipanema.  I know Ipanema beach is in Brazil.  It just fits, the Argentinean babe. I'll guarantee you that news chicks across this country are now swooning. This is just fascinating.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Janet in Lancaster, North Carolina, it's great to have you here on the EIB Network.  Hi.

CALLER:  Thank you, Rush.  I know you've heard this a million times, but it really is a thrill to talk to you.

RUSH:  Thank you very much.

CALLER:  I heard earlier about Mark Sanford, and the letters.  First of all, how could anyone think that it's all so romantic and just swoon when the man has cheated on his wife?

RUSH:  Well, I know. See, again, now, you are asking a rational question about liberal women in the media.

CALLER:  You're right.

RUSH:  They are different.  They don't think the same. I've read them, and they think, "Oh, this is real love.  This is the real thing.  He needs to marry this woman.  He needs to leave his wife -- it's not working, everybody understands this -- and go marry this woman.  And then he needs to understand that gays are not allowed to do this," is what one female reporter said.  They are swooning over this. These liberal media babes are swooning over his love letters.

CALLER:  Any man who would send me a love letter that was pre-composed, I --

RUSH:  No, his are not pre-composed. He wrote his.  In the story that's in The Politico (the woman's last name is Lovley) she went out and found a "romance coach," and the romance coach has a website where you can log on and get prewritten love letters.

CALLER:  How stupid...

RUSH:  Sanford wrote his own.  He's special.

CALLER:  How stupid can people be?  I mean, a pre-composed love letter? I know his weren't.

RUSH:  Well, now, wait a second, now.  I had the same view of greeting cards.

CALLER:  Yeah, you're right.

RUSH:  I mean, why do I need to go to a store to find a greeting card to say something that I couldn't come up with myself?

CALLER:  You're right.  Even if it's also --

RUSH:  No, no. But no. It's not that I want to write greeting card. I'm just saying it's the same thing with Valentine's Day.  It's a holiday out of duty.

CALLER: Right. I'm --

RUSH:  Everybody goes out, orders the flowers, the candy. No wonder women are gaining weight after they get married or relationship.

CALLER: (laughs)

RUSH: Flowers, candy, go to dinner, whatever. It's because they have to.  Not because anybody wants to.  It's just there.  And the greeting card business. You know, Valentine's Day was created. I think hallmark invented it.

CALLER:  Oh, probably.  By the way, on July 5th my husband and I will have our 28th wedding anniversary, and I weigh 90 pounds. I have not gained weight. (laughs)

RUSH:  Twenty-eighth wedding anniversary.  Congratulations.

CALLER:  Thank you, thank you.  And that's the way it's supposed to be.  People just have the wrong idea about romance and obligation and morals. You know, like you said: It's liberal. It's all liberal.

RUSH:  Yeah, you have to understand this. Standards and this kind of thing are flexible today, and I find it fascinating that it's liberal media women who are swooning.  I mean, now they're all excited because they have discovered that Sanford made more than one trip to Argentina to see the woman.  It's like these liberal women are saying, "If only me. If it was only me!"  Are they missing love in their lives?  And they're finding it vicariously through this guy? Well, they might be missing romance. I'm sure. (interruption)Who knows.  Have you ever dated a liberal woman?  Have you?  (laughing)  Snerdley, with his review, I shall stand mute.  Because I respect people's privacy, including my own.

RUSH: If there are any liberal news women in this audience, stop what you're doing.  I have more Mark Sanford news.  This guy is amazing.  He's already being heralded by liberal infobabes for being really great at love letter writing, and he's really in love with the babe down in Argentina and he just ought to go for it.  I mean, they're schmaltzy, they're embarrassing, but, man, how romantic, oh, it's just wonderful.  Remember when I said last week, this guy could have been our JFK?  Still to this day, educated liberal reporters do not understand this.  They think that I'm saying that Mark Sanford has some sort of great political reputation, image, charisma that could cause him to win a landslide. No.  I'm not going to explain it.  You people understand it; the Drive-Bys do not.  But here are the two AP alerts:  First, "South Carolina governor tells AP that the mistress down in Argentina is his soul mate, but he will try to fall back in love with his wife."

AP alert number two:  "South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says he 'crossed lines' with a handful of women other than his mistress -- but never had sex with them."  This guy is loyal to the mistress.  This guy does not cheat on the mistress.  Do you realize how the liberal women are going to eat this up?  The liberal infobabes, they're swooning, folks.  I'll guarantee you they are having to excuse themselves and go to the bathroom here to control themselves.  This guy is amazing.  He tells the AP that his mistress is his soul mate, but that he's going to try to fall back in love with his wife.  Of course it's a devastating turn of events here for the wife, but the liberal news babes don't care about the wife, don't you understand?  They care about the romance; they care about the Hollywood; they care about the fairytale; it's real love.  They don't have it.  They dream about it.  He's got it.  He's writing about it.  Go for it, gov.  And so now they're even more deeply immersed.  He has admitted that the mistress is his soul mate, but he's going to try to fall back in love with his wife. Have you ever tried to fall in love with somebody?

Snerdley, I got a great question.  A friend of mine said, "Where was Obama born?" And I don't know.  He's not a native Hawaiian.  Where was he born?  I don't know.  Supposedly Hawaii, but we don't have independent confirmation of it.  I don't want to go there.  God doesn't have a birth certificate, either, so it's no big deal.  South Carolina governor tells AP the mistress is his soul mate, gonna try to fall back in love with his wife.  Have you ever tried to fall in love with somebody?  Have you ever tried to fall out of love with somebody that you're in love with?  That's called heartbreak, and people jump off the Golden Gate Bridge because of this sometimes.  It's just not something you can snap your fingers and do.  And then, to really seal the deal, he may have a political future.

The chickification of the news is happening.  These liberal women love this guy, they love this story, they're captivated by it, they're going to love it even more.  Once they hear that Mark Sanford has told State-Run Media, the Associated Press that he crossed lines with women other than the mistress, but he never had sex with them.  he has never cheated on the mistress.  Folks, I'm looking at this from the perspective of the liberal women who are already in heat reporting this.  Of course this is bad for the wife.  To me it's a phenomena to watch liberal infobabes report this story and get totally lost in it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This Mark Sanford story, I'm thinking about this more and more from the viewpoint of these liberal media babes.  Remember Nina Burleigh?  Liberal media babes, they're different, they think different.  Nina Burleigh was at TIME magazine, and back in the nineties, she promised, she wrote in TIME Magazine or a blog or somewhere, she wrote an opinion piece -- it may not have been in TIME but it was somewhere, New Republic or somewhere -- she wrote that she would give Bill Clinton a Lewinsky just for keeping abortion legal.  So it is not strange to me to see all these media women, liberal fawning, just melting over this Sanford business.  Now, if you're just joining us here, AP just ran two alerts.  First alert: "Carolina governor tells AP that his mistress is his soul mate --" I'm telling you, this is Hollywood, there are tears in the newsrooms of America.  "-- but he's gonna try fall back in love with his wife."  Second alert from AP: "South Carolina governor tells AP he crossed lines with women other than mistress, but never had sex with them."  He never cheated on the mistress, do you realize, folks, this could rival -- Mark Sanford -- no wait, stick with me on this.  This could rival the first black president in terms of electability, the first governor to fall in love with his mistress.  It's never happened.

Kennedy never fell in love with them; Spitzer didn't fall in love with them; Clinton didn't fall in love with them that we know about.  What if Sanford, what if he ends up giving up his throne for love?  Just like Philip and Wallis Simpson, what if he gives up the throne for love, do you realize how electable that will make him with certain women in this country, gave up the throne for love?  First governor to fall in love with and not cheat on his mistress.  First black president -- now, compare this with the stink of a story that is the John Edwards scandal.  Here's the latest from the New York Times:  The book proposal from a man who was one of former Senator John Edwards' closest aides claims that Edwards, the Breck Girl, promised him he "'would be taken care of for life,' in return for falsely claiming he was the father of the baby carried by Mr. Edwards’s mistress, Rielle Hunter.  The aide, Andrew Young, sold his book proposal to St. Martin’s Press for an undisclosed price late last week. In his proposal, Mr. Young quotes Mr. Edwards, a Democrat who was his party’s vice-presidential nominee in 2004 and ran for president last year, as begging him to confess to fathering Ms. Hunter’s baby. 'You know how much I love you,' Edwards said. 'You know I’d walk off a cliff for you, and I know you’d walk off a cliff for me,' Mr. Young wrote in the book proposal. 'I will never forget this. And I will always be there for you.' The proposal was shared with The New York Times by a book publishing industry executive. Portions of it were reported over the weekend by The Daily News of New York."

For some reason TMZ did not have this first. The New York Times did.  But you compare the tawdry stink, you had an illegitimate child, you had Edwards having an aide lie about being the father and so forth, offering to take care of him for life, Mark Sanford loves the mistress, never cheated on the mistress.  She's his soul mate.  Now, folks, again, don't misunderstand.  Do not think I am at all condoning this.  This is all being reported to you within and from the context and frame of mind of liberal media women who find the story captivating, enthralling, and beautiful.  To me, this is just… (laughing)

A Look Inside the Liberal Mind
June 30, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: There's a column by George Will today about the Supreme Court decision yesterday regarding Sonia Sotomayor, the Ricci case, the firefighters in New Haven.  And it's a great piece by Mr. Will:  "'Four Justices Unable to See Beyond Race.' -- Although New Haven's firefighters deservedly won in the Supreme Court, it is deeply depressing that they won narrowly -- 5 to 4. The egregious behavior by that city's government, in a context of racial rabble-rousing, did not seem legally suspect to even one of the court's four liberals, whose harmony seemed to reflect result-oriented rather than law-driven reasoning." Mr. Will seems surprised.  And I'm sure many of you in this audience were surprised, too.  Folks, do you remember what F. Scott Fitzgerald said about the rich?  He said, "The rich are different from you and me."  Liberals are different from you and me.  I think it's time to forget holding out hope for liberal judges, folks.  They are not like us.  They don't look at the judicial system the way we do.  They don't look at the law the way we do.

The liberal brain fires in a totally different way, years and years and years of propaganda has robbed liberals of the ability to reason and think.  They are programmed human robots.  Somebody got hold of them, either in the sixties, in college, junior high, when they're watching cartoons on TV, Captain Planet, whatever it is, they don't think like we do.  They just don't.  I was not surprised at all.  Maybe for a scant second disappointed, 5-4, but then I grabbed hold of myself in a moment of reality.  Barack Obama is a liberal, a radical, and he thinks we need empathy on the court, and sure as hell, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in her dissenting opinion, said the firefighters certainly deserve the sympathy of the court.  No, they don't.  They deserve the law.  They deserve justice.  They don't deserve sympathy.  That's not what courts are about.  But even though they deserve sympathy, they didn't get enough to win in the liberal mind.  Why?  Because liberals practice racism.

An Investor's Business Daily editorial calls it racial favoritism.  Whatever it is, they side with minorities.  They believe that the majority in this country is corrupt, immoral, and unjust, and must pay.  And the court system is how one of the many ways that the majority is going to pay.  The tax system and redistribution is another way the majority is going to pay for all of the pain and suffering it has inflicted on the unions and on the minorities and so forth.  This is how liberals think, whether they're on the court or whether they're asking for contributions to ACORN.  They're no different.  Stephen Breyer, "We gotta look to foreign law if we can't find precedent in our own law to rule the way we want to."  They don't think like we do.  It's misplaced hope to think that liberals are going to see reason the way we do in the law.  They don't look at the law as a means of finding legal adjudications to cases.  They look at the law and the court system as a way to level the playing field according to their view of how it's unfair.  Four votes could not possibly see the legal constitutional issues in this case?

This is very instructive for all of us to see just how the liberal mind operates.  F. Scott Fitzgerald, remember the big book?  The Great Gatsby.  The rich are different.  Needs to be updated.  Liberals are different.  Liberals function in a totally foreign way, and you have to apply yourself as I have done my whole life to understand these people.  Most people don't care to go to that trouble because once you figure out who they are it depresses you even more.

The guy's got a point here, it really wasn't a coup.  It was the constitution being upheld

Absolutely stunning! The MSM did not report how the Honduras government PEACEFULLY removed a RISING
Dictator! (Notice my tag line) : )
