Is it just me, or did it bother some of you how the Iraqis were celebrating so much about our leaving? You’d think we were the bad guys, the way they were carrying on...
Pay no attention to the stupid media who are deliberately portraying it that way.
The Iraqis are jubilant because they feel ready to stand on their own. This is a big step for them. And the leaders have all given credit to the coalition forces for this in their speeches - to rousing cheers from the people.
And we're not leaving. Combat troops are merely pulling out of the city centers and relocating to outskirt areas. The troops involved in training and other transition activities are still located in the city centers if that is where their AOR is. That includes us civilians who are working with our troops on this effort.

bingo!
Kind of how a parent feels when your kid leaves the nest.
After living under Hussein, then having to worry about looking like the bad guy to a foreigner, I would celebrate for one day, too, with my face to the floor at the beginning and the end, praying to God for guidance. I remember one time in the Old Testament God told the Israelites to celebrate for a week, then get back to work.
