Sarah Palin trashed by members of John McCain's campaign team in Vanity Fair

Alaska's lipstick-wearing pit-bull is a "Little Shop of Horrors."
That's how one longtime friend and campaign trail companion of John McCain, the vanquished 2008 GOP presidential nominee, described veep nominee Sarah Palin.
In an expansive story in the August edition of Vanity Fair, a slew of senior members of McCain's campaign team told reporter Todd S. Purdum that they suffer a kind of survivor's guilt following the 2008 presidential election.
"They can't quite believe that for two frantic months last fall, caught in a Bermuda Triangle of a campaign, they worked their tails off to try to elect as vice president of the United States someone who, by mid-October, they believed for certain was nowhere near ready for the job, and might never be," Vanity Fair reports.
During the campaign, there were reports of anonymous McCain aides describing Palin, the governor of Alaska, as a "diva" and a "whack job."
The Vanity Fair article recounts how strained Palin's relationship was with the McCain advisers. She maintained "only the barest level of civil discourse" with Tucker Eskew, the operative assigned to be her chief minder, the magazine reports.
She believed Steve Schmidt, McCain's top strategist, had lied to her about conducting polling in Alaska - that was a "belief she conveyed to anyone who would listen," the magazine reported.

Surprise! A bunch of RINOs attacking a Conservative. Who would have thought.
Oh sure - THAT'S investigative journalism.
SteveSchmidt was just this April telling us that the biggest threat to the Republican party was not the Democrats but “religion”. This definitely places him outside the mainstream of Republican thought ~ See: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/17/steve-schmidt-mccain-camp_n_188354.html
I’m betting that they won’t be part of Palin’s 2012 campaign. Even given their sterling record. </sarcasm>
That’s the crux of the problem here, going back to November-—you have all of these out-of-work professional GOP beltway campaign hacks who’ve been trying to jump aboard the Palin bandwagon and she won’t give them the time of day. So, they’re now bad-mouthing her all over again to their media buddies out of pure spite and envy.
Palin may have issues, but McCain’s “brain trust” are not likely to be able to understand them much less explain them much less ameliorate them.
Idiot Mac suspends campaign over TARP.
Draws 2,000 people per event pre Palin
Can't get any donors
Sets up her for Media bashing
Mc Cain family thinks they are diva's and nobody cares about them.
This crap is all MADE UP by the left in an attempt to:
1. Destroy the next (female) Reagan.
2. Divide and conquer (what remains of) the GOP.
what can you expect as he realizes it was HER that got the votes they did, and not him.....
That was yesterday’s thread. This is June 30, the next day so a new thread is OK.
In an expansive story in the August edition of Vanity Fair, a slew of senior members of McCain's campaign team told reporter Todd S. Purdum that they suffer a kind of survivor's guilt following the 2008 presidential election.
It'd be like having a building full of Robert Gibbs types.
Whatever!!
Ha ha ha ha ha, these are the losers who supported a presidential candidate who was a loose cannon.
If not for Sarah, the election would have been a bigger blowout than it was. McCain doesn’t have the decency to speak the truth.
RINO’s IMO are nothing less than covert Leftist, Socialist/Democrats trashing the Republican Party with the goal of forcing the Conservative movement to choose Third Party, thus oblivion.
So, she wanted to give a concession speech election night but deferred to McCain and didn’t. That’s a pretty serious accusation. If there’s any proof of this, she’s toast.
McCain is the past; Palin is the future. McCain’s tired out, inside-the-beltway professional pols can’t stand the fact that they’re so over.
Get ready: The next article will cite a “super-duper-really-big-humungous-slew” of ANNOMYMOUS sources.
McCain’s campaign was one of the worst in history. It did not even recognize that it was Palin — not McCain — who was the draw for the party. If I were a McCain staffer, I’d keep my mouth shut to avoid the embarrassment.
If she was so bad, then those from the campaign complaining now are the same people who should have prevented Palin from getting on the ticket in the first place. Either they were incompetent last summer when it was time to pick a VP or they are nothing more than bitter folks with an agenda now. Either way, it’s a clue as to why McCain’s campaign put up such an uninspiring effort,
So, you’re still blind to all the back stabbing that’s going on? I’m not surprised.
Old “news”, garbage, lies, cowardice, jealousy, false. Just another piece for the msm to run with. The never endiing WITCH HUNT.
Sarah Palin 2012
If these guys don’t want to work with Palin, she can certainly make sure they have nothing to do with the 2012 campaign.
LoooOOOSERS!
Ghosts don’t have gonads.
These people DON’T EXIST!
Not according to Question D-3 in the Battleground Poll:
D-3 shows that 60% of Americans consistently describe themselves as "Conservative" or "Somewhat conservative," while 36% call themselves liberal or somewhat liberal.
And more can't understand the question than call themselves "Moderate!"
You're willfully blinded by your ideology.

Looks like their counterparts in the Obama camp worked harder at working their tails off...
I agree with everybody here that it seems that a bunch of RINO’s are trying to sink Palin. However, I find it concerning that I didn’t hear of one McCain staffer who has defended Sarah Palin
On the other hand, I read all this garbage, and I don’t see anything concrete that they are accusing her for! They just didn’t have a good relationship with her, especially her “minder”. Well, based on the great job that “minder” did, why shouldn’t she have disagreed with him? First they keep her under wraps, and then when they do allow her to do interviews, it’s only with her enemies, and because of the lack of interviews with someone fair and balanced, that’s these are the only interviews people remember!
True. But if this account is accurate - the account, and not the description of Palin herself - and this is really the way that they felt about Palin then it's an indication that McCain's campaign had given no thought to their selection before they made it.
I interviewed Palin last November. She is articulate, personable, attractive and intelligent. What’s more she has the courage of her convictions. A rare commodity in the Republican Party ( I say this as a registered Democrat.)
Vanity Fair is a Democratic Party magazine. Remember, the publisher did special editions for Monica Lewinsky and Valerie Plame.
Steve Schmidt spends more time knocking Republicans than Democrats. Yet, in September 2008 Mr. Schmidt said this about Palin in a CBS interview:
“(Palin)is an exceptional governor, a reform governor in Alaska. Fifty states in this country, she is the most popular governor of any governor of any state. Her approval ratings are 80 percent. When you look at the fact that Congress’s approval rating is 9 percent, and 85 percent of the country thinks we’re going in the wrong direction, she’s doing something right up there. She’s fought the oil companies. She’s building a huge natural gas pipeline. She’s taken on the corrupt special interests. She’s returned taxpayer money back to families in Alaska. She is the future of the Republican Party. She’s going to be an outstanding vice president. The simple fact here is that this is a mom of five children. There’s been a private family matter and she’s been under viscous assault and attack from the angry left. And we’ve seen that today. There’s a lot of allegations and rumors, almost all of them untrue. The other side is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her to see what sticks. American people are going to love her when they meet her. She’s an exceptional woman, an accomplished woman; and by any objective measurement, Katie, she is more experienced and more accomplished than Senator Obama. She’s a woman who manages billion dollar budgets. She makes decisions every day. One of the most exceptional governors in the country.”
He was correct then. He is not now.
Except when it comes to this regurgitated, MADE-UP, story.
Todd Purdum and his Clinton sycophant wife Dee Dee Myers are congenital pathological liars who can not be believed. McCain will NEVER get over the popularity of Palin, NEVER!!!
LLS
Proof??? There is not even a name associated with that bullsh!t!
LLS
Make that 10,342.
This story is a FABRICATION!
You are correct and many here on FR are not.

Steve Schmidt, Tucker Eskew and Nicole Wallce are the three backstabbing POSs, IMO.
I’m sure all three a**wipes will find employment in a Romney or Huckabee campaign. Bank on it.
Ineterestingly, Purdum is also a former NYT WH correspondent(we all know the NYT loves conservatives) and last yr wrote a hit piece on Bill Clinton. I knew the name was familiar. He wrote this huge hit pice that was pretty much the same thing as this. The Clintons were peeved big time as Dick Cheney would say.
Here’s some of what Bill Clinton had to say about the article:
“You know he didn’t use a single name, cite a single source in all those things he said. It’s just slimy. It’s part of the national media’s attempt to nail Hillary for Obama. It’s the most biased press coverage in modern history. It’s another way of helping Obama. They had all these people standing up in his church cheering, calling Hillary a white racist, and he didn’t do anything about it. The first day he said ‘Ah, well.’ Because that’s what they do— he gets other people to slime her. So then they saw the movie they thought this is a great ad for John McCain — maybe I oughta quit the church. It’s all politics. It’s all about the bias of the media for Obama. Don’t think anything about it.”
“But I’m telling ya, all it’s doing is driving her supporters further and further away— because they know exactly what it is— this has been the most rigged coverage in modern history— and the guy ought to be ashamed of himself. But he has no shame.”
I never thought I’d be cheering Bill Clinton on. But he might as well have said the same thing here.
I remember a while back there was an article about how some overtures were being made to try and get Gov Palin to do a fundraiser or some appearance to help Hillary Clinton retire her debt or something like that. Some effort to bring the two sides closer.
It might just be time for something like that. The same pro-Obama media that went after the Clintons has found their new target. If we could team up with Stalin and the commies to win WW2 we can team up with the Clintons to take down Obama.
I guarantee you they still have no love for Obama and absolutely despise the media for what they did. Bill Clinton himself has had nothing but good words for Gov Palin and while I’m sure we all know what his motivations are, I think he was sincere in them. He’s known to hold grudges, to remember. If Obama slips, I owuld not rule out a primary challenge. But the Clintons know that an engaged female vote with the addition of her supporters will take him down. It would have last year but the economy ruined everything. McCain was on his way to winning before the whole Lehman Bros collapse sank the market and he fell apart with his suspension/bailout nonsense.
To have 3 yrs to cultivate and work with a number of their supporters and unite for the greater good will work wonders. There was only a few weeks last time. If even 5% of Clinton voters in some of the big states were to switch and vote for Gov Palin in the primariesa sprt of Operation CHAOS, pt II) she’d win them handily. Anything above 10% and it won;t even be competitive.
Ive noticed some of the pro-Clinton and Hillary sites have been positive towards Gov Palin. They are a potential secret weapon to be utilized. Normally, no Republican would have an opening to a democratic group like that. Certainly a Romney or Pawlenty or whoever won;t have a ntuaral affinity with them like she does.
But this is the same playbook they used with the Clintons. The same magazine, the same reporter, the same type of story. I guarantee you the Clintons and their allies/supporters will notice that. Hopefully behind the scenes thre is something going on to try and do something. I know Greta Van Susteren’s husband is close to both of them and maybe this will only help.
In a way this helps her in the sense that every attack by democrats and the left only endears her more to Republicans and conservatives. The same thing happened with Clinton and the dems. It’s just natural to defend your own when someone comes after them.
Also, a lot of these McCain folks are former Bush folks. They all backed Romney in the primary and are no doubt for him in 2012. Furthermore, they’re no doubt all for Jeb Bush in 2016 once Romney loses in 2012. So they have a vested interest in kneecapping Gov Palin. They know if she wins she wants no part of them and they’re all out on the street. They’ll have no role, no access, no nothing. So this is a preemptive strike in a sense. I say she should embrace it and announce if she runs that no former McCain or Bush people will be on her staff. That it will be all new.
Thye are definitely scared and trying to do everything they can to take her down and clear the way for Willard. She’s the biggest obstacle, followed by Huckabee. They key for her to win is to figure out how to keepp Huckabee from running. Without him in the race she should win comfortably, with him, it’s a ways tougher. Now, the good news is Huckabee can’t stand Romney either.
But this article is staright out of the playbook used against Hillary and Bill and hopefully they and their supporters take notice.
Poll at that link needs FREEPing

Something this thread was lacking. Sarah Palin forever; Steve Schmidt NEVER.
