House Speaker Nancy Pelosi prowled the floor Friday morning, hungry for the votes she needs to pass her flagship climate-change legislation.
Some leadership aides said Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her leadership team had rounded up enough votes to pass the bill with Democratic votes, and would go forward with a vote Friday. Leaders usually don't put a major bill on the floor unless they know they have the votes to pass it. ... But another source familiar with the vote-counting cast doubt on that, saying the effort to lasso the votes could push into Saturday.
On a procedural vote needed to bring up the cap-and-trade bill, 30 Democrats, mostly conservatives and coal-staters, voted "no." That is not good news for the bill, indicating significant opposition remains. But if only 30 Democrats were to vote against the bill, it could still pass. And procedural votes are poor predictors of the final vote.
Pelosi used a series of votes on a spending bill to work the floor. She buttonholed coal-state lawmakers and huddled with allies to compare tally sheets.
At one point, she pressed Rep. Ben Chandler (D-Ky.) for at least five minutes as they stood against the rail in the back of the chamber.
Nearby Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), a liberal who has called the bill too weak, was getting double-teamed by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), a chief deputy whip, and Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) a co-author of the cap-and-trade bill.
Pelosi then brought Doggett into the cloakroom for an extended conversation with other members.
A short time later, Doggett sent out a press release declaring he was a "no" vote on the bill.

He just came out in support.
“Pelosi then brought Doggett into the cloakroom for an extended conversation with other members. “
Shame on him!
Why can’t they just sit in their seats and vote without pressure from others...? I’m so angry about this!
Anybody find out how much he was offered?
It looks like Nazi Pelosi's testicle lock box is full.
Pelosi is one of the most evil idiots ever to afflict American politics. Only in a completely insane era could this woman have become as powerful as she is.
Once upon a time, people would joke that if Congress could find a way to tax the air we breathe, they’d do it.
Well, they finally found a way.
Just remember this guy has always won his re-elections narrowly. Take him out next election. He is as liberal as the day is long. It is surprising he voted against bringing this to the floor. It was probably just so he could get some bennies to buy votes with.
No on the rule, yes on final passage. Doggett was bought off by PelOSi.

Told y’all this thing is going to pass, likely by 5-7 votes.
Well said. She’s threatening them with loss of DNC funds for re-election, promising to recruit opponents for their next primary, the whole ball of wax. Typical liberal full-on threat and thug operation.
I'm surprised he held out this long. I would have thought he'd have drunk the kool-aid long ago.
Ok so what does that prove? Does that mean we sit by and not fan the flames against it? I’m not sure it will pass but even if we defeat it will return.
We call him Doggs@#t in Texas. Now you know why.
