Emergency Workers Felt Jackson Dead at Scene
TMZ ^ | June 26, 2009

Posted on 06/26/2009 1:11:44 PM PDT by Shermy

When EMTs arrived at Michael Jackson's home yesterday, the medics wanted to pronounce him dead on the scene -- but Michael's personal doctor refused to let them "call it" -- this according to sources close to the situation.

When EMTs arrived there was evidence someone had been performing CPR on Michael for "quite some time." There was evidence of Lidocaine -- an old-school drug that can be used to treat disturbances in the heart's rhythm. Medics took over performing CPR but determined Jackson was lifeless -- and wanted to call the coroner to pick up the body.

We're told Jackson was flat-lined when EMTs arrived.

But our sources say M.J.'s doc demanded EMTs continue performing CPR anyway, and demanded that they take Michael to the hospital.

Once they arrived at UCLA, we're told Jackson's doc continued to personally administer CPR -- even though it was clear Jackson was already gone.

I thought this story was newsy and interesting from a variety of perspectives.

For one, note the drug called “old school”.

Also, in the 911 call it is evident the doctor was giving CPR on a bed. I think it widely known one should put the person on a firm surface. Another medical blunder?

Why was his physician there in the first place?

That alone sounds a little odd.

If Jackson was having problems, that physician should have directed the family to call 911.

First responders here call this "DRT"....Dead Right There.

The odds of getting him back even on a witnessed full arrest is slim without a defribrillater and even then it rare

Very good.

There were confusing stories yesterday from the hospital docs. One, that no CPR was given to Jackson. Maybe they meant improper CPR?

It felt like the hospital doctors were trying to proactively skip blame. I said yesterday they might be doing this out of caution.

Now I really see clearly why—the personal doctor was trying to fashion the death as a hospital event, not an at home event.

One thing for sure, he ain’t feeling no pain no more.

This doctor was living there? I wonder what else he was providing?

Supposedly ol’ man Jackson and a family friend were there, not sure if before or after the shot. no telling how many minutes passed before them noticing he wasn’t responsive or breathing.

As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined him.

And he's not only merely dead,

he's really most sincerely dead.

As another poster had commented - what kind of doctor leaves the victim on the bed while trying to do CPR?

A friend of mine (firefighter) said when they respond to a heart attack type thing they give CPR until the EMT’s arrive - even if they are sure the guy is dead. And the EMTs continue into the aid car.

I said “Oh, I suppose you never know if the guy is really “dead” or not”.

He replied “No - we just don’t want to have the guy’s family be there when we declare him dead.” I’m not sure if that was more for the family’s sake or the for the sake of the rescuers.

Paramedics do not normally "pronounce" a patient as dead. That is the physicians job.

That’s certainly possible.

another,

When the dispatcher learns there is a doctor present, he/she acts immediately as if outranked.

If the EMTs wanted to declare him dead, but a medical doctor present does not, perhaps the EMTs are outranked?

Certainly they might get scared that if the doctor refused to declare him dead—and they didn’t deliver him to a hospital...think of the conspiracy theories!

Sounds like the doc waited too long to call EMT because he probably gave him something and it went bad. I am sure his health was pretty bad anyway from drugs, endless plastic surgery, skin bleeching, probably bad diet, etc etc.

The doctor probably gave him something which helped cause dthe heart attack and panicked and failed to call 911 immediately. The girl or assistant to Heath Ledger did the same thing.

"Why was his physician there in the first place?"

Probably because he was the one who gave Michael the lethal injection. Just a guess.

I’m not so sure you’re wrong at all with that.

It will be interesting to see what this physician’s record is.
