Police in Albuquerque said a restaurant employee has been killed after several armed suspects attempted a takeover-style robbery at a packed Denny's Restaurant.
Police spokeswoman Officer Nadine Hamby said "multiple" armed suspects rushed the northwest Albuquerque restaurant at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. As many as 100 people were inside.
A Saturday morning breakfast for 60 restaurant guests quickly turned into a nightmare.
I wouldn't be surprised if the robbers planned on heading to that very casino after their invasion.
Keep cool, Honey Bunny...
.........and not a soul was carrying I bet. If just 2-3 out of that 60 were armed it might have been a different outcome.
“If just 2-3 out of that 60 were armed it might have been a different outcome.”
Heck, even one person opening up on the bastards might have helped.
Every restaurant patron’s nightmare and hidden fear.
I wonder about links to Mexico drug rings..
Funny how this never happens in the southeast...maybe because 1 in 60 has a CCW permit in VA.
Has a Cracker Barrell ever been robbed? Somehow I don’t think so.
When a 19-year old female employee made a comment about it, the gunmen shot her, killing her.
In retrospect... it is always a bad idea to make fun of an idiot holding a gun...
Yeah, I was thinking that wasn't too smart, but it would be hard to resist comment after watching one of these goons slip and bust his ass.
I hope they catch them quickly and give that one a date with the needle.
Probably those Frenchies again... you know, LeSean, Daymond, or something like that.
Dear God .. the gates of Hell have been opened.
Prayers for the victims and loved ones.
The have nots will be preying on the haves
and the innocents more and more. God protect
us, keep us alert and safe.
just like the fonz.....(or something like that!)
There was a somewhat similar case in an Indianapolis Denny’s back in the mid-90s. A couple of gunmen took the place over and it somehow went from a robbery to an extended hostage situation. I remember my aunt (who lives in Indy) telling me about it. I think in that case, there were deaths involved (not sure about all the details).
Witnesses said us one of the men had a machine gun, the others fired handguns at random.
Pretty easy to get frightened confused when someone has a gun aimed at you and you are unarmed. Albuquerque is a very rough town.
Unfortunate that no one appears to have been armed. If one of the robbers had a machine gun, a pistol might not have been enough to stop this.
“...a group of masked men and possibly women stormed into the popular diner and began shooting.”... “machine gun”
Not trying to be argumentative but I can envision the presence of one or more armed diners and, if so, they were cool and perhaps avoided a blood bath.
There is a group of people firing and possibly an automatic weapon (although a semi-auto can be made to sound like an auto).
First, that is a lot of noise and screaming. None of the diners were injured, perhaps it was obvious to the armed diners the shooters were firing at the ceiling?
Even if the shooters are the only ones still on their feet and there is little risk of collateral damage if one fires at the shooters, if someone returns fire, now there is a chance the fire is no longer aimed at the ceiling but at diners.
What is North Mexico laws about carry in restaurants? This shows the lie of all the hysterics about TN allowing carry in restaurants even if they serve booze.
Any particular reason for that?
