Bush's speech puts Erie in spotlight
Eerie Times & News ^ | 6-17-09

When former President George W. Bush speaks in Erie tonight, he will undoubtedly receive a warm welcome from the sellout crowd at the Erie Bayfront Convention Center, where he'll address the 104th annual meeting of the Manufacturer & Business Association.

The association has a knack for landing speakers when they are hot on the lecture circuit, and it is justifiably proud in bringing the former president to Erie just months after he left office.

The crowd leans to the conservative side, but the association doesn't select speakers who merely preach to the choir. Often, the audience hears two contrasting perspectives.

Thank you, President Bush. There's a nervewracking and disconcerting world of difference now in our White House.

DrDeb tried to get tickets for this event, since it's an easy drive from here, but they sold out almost immediately.

Don't ever believe that "unpopular" President stuff. People all over the country can't wait to see him.

And rightfully so!

Security tight for Bush's Erie talk - Speech among first since leaving office

Presidential politics returns to Erie today.

This time, it won't be a candidate seeking the highest office in the land. It will be a former president who's making one of his first U.S. speeches since leaving the Oval Office.

*snip*

Security, under the direction of the U.S. Secret Service, will be tight, said Erie police Detective Lt. Kenneth Merchant.

More than a dozen Erie police officers working their regular shifts will serve in a support role for the Secret Service, said Merchant, who will lead the Erie police contingent. That support will include a police escort for the 43rd president from Erie International Airport, along with security outside and inside the convention center, he said.

Merchant said police are not working for the Manufacturer & Business Association, but supporting the Secret Service.

Suite honor: Rangers to rename owner’s suite after former president George W. Bush

Last update: June 17, 2009 - 6:56 PM

###

ARLINGTON, Texas - The owner’s suite at Rangers Ballpark is being renamed in honor of former President George W. Bush.

Bush is also the former managing general partner of the Rangers, a position he held from 1989-94 before being elected governor of Texas and later as the 43rd U.S. president.

*snip*

The Rangers plan to dedicate the “President George W. Bush Owner’s Suite” before Thursday night’s game against the Houston Astros. Bush is scheduled to attend with Rangers owner Tom Hicks and team president Nolan Ryan.

Bush turned out to be nothing more than a socialist. His socialist creds make many other RINO supporters weak in the knee’s.

And who can forget his parting shot at free markets with TARP I?

I won’t forget what Bush did to prepare the why for the bigger socialist Obama.

I’ll bet that he supports O’s SCOTUS pick just like his daddy did last week.

Any here who support Bush should hang their heads in shame, he sold conservatives and the US Contitution down the road.
