oh hell no!!!
How about an amendment that prohibits anyone from running or serving as POTUS without having served in the Military?
That might bring the candidates back down to earth.
I’m also for term limits for Senators and Congressmen.
Welcome to the Obama Century.
I could see that.
The One and his Clueless Sidekick have been laying the foundation already. "The stimulus will take YEARS to work its magic. Job creation won't be apparent for YEARS."
"...oh, and since all of my brilliant and critical programs will take so long to work, why don't we do away with that pesky term limit thingie. You wouldn't want to throw me out just before I work my miracles, would you?"
“Its really hard to amend the Constitution.”
Not when you have the likes of ACORN rigging elections.
Give them time, and we’ll be saddled with Emperor Zer0 as dictator for life.
I didn’t say it couldn’t be done.
I said it was hard to do.
What a waste of our money and our time! Why don't these fellows tackle problems and solve them. Instead, they create a fuss by making new ones to deflect the focus from what is really wrong in this country. Good Golly, I am sick of their idealistic, manipulative scheming and lazy approach to doing the real work that needs to be done. It makes me nauseous to think that we have so many do-nothing types in Congress who steal from us right under our noses and then propose these ridiculous amendments to waste time!!!
Are you sure one was filed during the Bush administration?
I recall this being tried during the Clinton years, but I don’t remember reading about an effort during the Bush years.
Serrano and Shays in 1999 (H.J.Res. 17), Serrano in 2001 (H.J.Res. 4), 2003 (H.J.Res. 11), 2005 (H.J.Res. 9), 2007 (H.J.Res. 8), and 2009 (H.J.Res. 5)
Check the names on this additional one from 1999:
By Mr. HOYER (for himself, Mr. Hyde, Mr. Frank of Massachusetts, Mr. Berman, Mr. Sensenbrenner, Mr. Sabo, and Mr. Pallone):
H. J. Res. 38. A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States repealing the twenty- second article of amendment to the Constitution; to the Committee on the Judiciary.
Yep. I just looked up for odd years from 1995 through 2009, and found bills in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. Post above has bill numbers, but no links. I used Search Cong. Record, checked off the odd-number years (first session of each Congress), and used the search term "twenty-second article" (in quotes).
I like it, supposedly grassroots and on principle by Democrats, Republicans and Independents, yet proud that they started the day Obama became President. They registered not long after he was elected.
I’ve done some searching, can’t find anything about this company except an address in NY. They don’t show under NY business records as end22.com or anything like that. The address points to a Bank of America building.
If zero/acorn succeeds we will be stuck with zero forever.
Clinton's approval rating were in the low 60's at the time of the 2000 elections. There were several polls commissioned at the time. It's pretty clear that Clinton would have easily won reelection - Bush lost the popular vote to a horrible candidate in Gore. If anything, Monicagate bolstered Clinton's approval. The day after he was impeached, Clinton's approval rating spiked to a high for his entire tenure at 73%.
Roosevelt's tenure proved if nothing else, Americans love freebies and the Presidents that dole them out. If FDR could win four elections, Obama with a very friendly media could easily win three.
>>”Or one that requires a President to produce a birth certificate.”<<
Exposing his real birth certifcate is the only way ‘We the People’ will be able to preserve our Freedom and our current Constitution.
Don’t the individual STATES have to vote on Amendments to the Constitution?
Goodness. Thank Goodness we have the 22nd. Clinton for a third term would have been awful. Although I did not hate him as a person (religion doesn’t allow it) but I hate what he did to the military.
Thank you. That is surprising to me. I didn’t think the Republicans would submit something like this. I guess it wouldn’t have to be a Republican even under Bush, but I suspect it would be.
One of the reasons Washington is one of our greatest presidents is the example he set by not seeking a third term.
