Can’t have people like me living five miles from mass transit. Believe me, Santa Cruz County feels exactly that way. Whenever they find a chance they redtag mountain properties and won’t let anyone build on them. They want us out of the mountains, and down in the gas-powered flatlands.

Over my dead body.

They'll make it more and more expensive to run a business far from one of their urban hives - and that will effectively depopulate the rural areas. It'll take generations to accomplish, which is why we can no longer afford squishy moderate Republicans who won't work to rip these noxious policies out by the roots - assuming they ever again manage to gain the majority.

Of course, rural America isn't only picturesque mountain country, it also includes places like impenetrable marshland. I'd love to see the Dems try to flush the Cajuns out of rural south Louisiana. The fedgov types would end up as gator bait.

LOL. The lib gummint here eliminated our bus service recently. Apparently without the hearing required by law.

Not that it was much, One bus into town 6:30 AM, one bus back 6 PM. Miss your bus and you have a LONG wait.

I read a book review last year about the suburbs. The author was surprised that their research demonstrated that people were happier in suburbs than in apartments or dense living units.

The “intellectuals” have ridiculed the suburbs since their inception. American intellectuals have always been ashamed of working class Americans who support them. They think we should all live like Europeans working class people. I guess it’s more picturesque for workers to live in quaint little hovels huddled together as you drive by.

American intellectuals fawn over the Euro rich.

Just wait until they tell us how many square feet of living space per person. Expect another family to move in with yours!!

Based on the taxes I pay, I feel like I already am paying the freight for about 3 other families. I should get at least 15 Father's Day cards, and I only have 2 kids.

Yeah, and you can Kiss My A$$, too.

Where I live, there is no public transportation. It is 30 minutes to the nearest town. Folks must have a four wheel drive with clearance to get up steep dirt roads - sometimes rutted, sometimes thick with snow and sometimes cluttered with forest debris.

I am tired of policies made by urbanites that are completely impractical and intolerant of other life styles. Diversity my foot.

"american intellectuals"

It seems leftists believe the perfect life is something from a Woody Allen film where eveyone who counts lives in a big-city apartment, goes to the "cinema" (not the movies), watches modern dance, ballet, attends the museum of modern art, marches in fashionable causes endeared to libs, and does other intellectual pursuits when not attending soirees where everyone discusses the latest avant-garde artiste who has just created a "masterpiece" involving excrement protesting America's/Israel's treatment of the Palestinian/lesbian/undocumented workers of the world.

As in the Allen movies, they all take taxis and constantly jet from New York to Paris to LA. Fly-over country is for the yokels. In short, many of them live in a bubble where they understand little about how the other ninety-nine percent of Americans live.

Mark Beg0ich (gag) our new Senator pushed this big time in Anchorage as Mayor.

You know, ground floor businesses and the next couple of floors condos etc....

Except the buildings the Muni subsidized sit mostly empty and the condos hold (wait for it) welfare queens.....

Nor to him as part of the US Politburo.

What do you mean “is there?” There already are different rules for them (politicians and their allies aka “elites”)and us. If we did some of the things many in zero’s cabinet and pack of “czars” have done, we’d be in jail!

Living an efficient urban lifestyle is a moral imperative to them.

Efficient urban lifestyle my ass!

I live in the country now and I'll always live in the country.

They can come and try and force me into an, "efficient urban lifestyle." But if they do I'd highly recommend sending more folks than they think is necessary. Some of them will be returning in less than perfect shape.
