Then, perhaps among more influential Anglicans in the U.S. it is still pronounced "grill cheese," but plebes and other mental defectives like myself can't afford a OED to check on that. Though, the whole thing is perhaps online, these days. If I weren't so indolent, being from a poor, and worse, a "mixed" genetic stock (part "Amer-Indian"), I might have bothered check before speaking within the hearing of my betters.
I'll be more impressed if "Arkancide" ever makes the grade.
