On June 6, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into counterfeit goods being sold at the Flea Market at 2710 Whitehorse Road. During the investigation, operations conducted lead them to believe that Wayne Boyd and Kip Shamiker were operating booths at the Flea Market with counterfeit merchandise. Investigators say the items included DVDs, CDs, and name brand apparel including Coogi, Polo, Nike, NFL, NBA, Coach, Gucci, and Dooney and Burke. Investigators say they knew the items were fake, through security features on merchandise tags and labels.

It’s such a relief that none of that bogus merchandise is being sold on eBay, though.

This is SC not NC whoever picked the topics. Channel 7’s span includes Asheville, NC, but Greenville County is South Carolina, and Whitehorse Rd Flea Market is just outside the City of Greenville if it isn’t actually in it.

Glad to see the cops are going after such serious crimes. We should all feel safer now that there is less counterfeit stuff being sold.

Why are taxpayer dollars being used to enforce trademark law, especially when the companies involved are more than able to pay for their own investigative and legal services? Shouldn't such a thing be a matter for the civil court system?

Just wait until the “you can’t sell anything a child might use” law goes into effect. The Flea Market/Garage Sale police will be REALLY busy, then!

Regards,

I always got a laugh out of this. Most rap and hip hop lyrics advocate violence and lawbreaking of all sorts. However, when i comes to matters like this, the same "artists" are the first to insist that "the man" protect their rights.

This was a big issue for Fritz Hollings in his day. What always gets me is that I bought the same music on a platter, then on a reel tape, then on a cassette tape, then on a CD, and on and on. But I do agree copyrights should be protected.
