(AP) — SAN ANGELO, Texas - The mayor of this West Texas sheep ranching town offered a stunning explanation when he suddenly resigned: He was in love with a man who was an illegal immigrant and had gone to Mexico.

They had to move, he said, because there was no legal way for them to remain together in the United States.

"It wasn't a decision that any U.S. citizen should have to make," former Mayor J.W. Lown said in an interview from Mexico. "I left a home. I left a ranch. I left a promising political career."

First off, good riddance.

Second, unfortunately, of course they could “stay together” here.

His local prominence and his run for the border on the day he was supposed to be sworn in...

Seriously, that's the funniest image ever. Sheep ranching drama queen mayor running nilly willy screaming for the Mexican border to be with his senor-he-ta like there's some law against it over here.

Goofball.

“Sheep rancher”

Te amo
The many charms about ju;
Above all
Quiero mi arms about ju.
Don’ be a naughty nino,
Come to papa — come to papa — do!
Mio sweet embraceable ewe.

An estimated 36,000 Americans are in this situation, said U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, citing information from the advocacy group Immigration Equality.

It's too bad Nadler's stomach has not been declared an illegal alien and forced to leave the country.

Story is a good example why not to allow gay marriage.

Now those two are Mexico’s problem.

"I left a home. I left a ranch. I left a promising political career."

He should have considered leaving his boyfriend. It would have saved him a lot of trouble.
