If Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa does decide to run for governor - as many expect he will - he won't be using the cover of the latest issue of Los Angeles Magazine for his campaign launch.

Emblazoned across a cover photo of a nattily dressed Villaraigosa is a giant headline: "Failure."

Also “adulterer.” But since he’s a dem, that’s probably redundant.

If he runs, he'll probably get elected. It is California after all...

Is it? I’ve never been there and was thinking of going to LA for vacation. I’ve been to SF and Oakland, which was like a worse version of Mexico. Is LA worse than that? Comments appreciated.

I’m no LA native and I find a lot to like in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Ventura County. Go to the Getty Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, Santa Anita racetrack, Venice, Santa Monica, Catalina Island. The SF Bay area is beautiful but there are a lot of negatives. Fewer negatives in the Los Angeles area. If you can handle Boston, you should have no problem.

That is that poster's opinion and they're entitled to it.

Lots of nice folks still live and work in L.A.

Like any big city there are areas to stay away from after dark, but to paint the entire city with a broad brush is nothing but pure hyperbole.

1. Villar-Raigosa

2. Moonbeam

3. “Whether you Like it Or Not” Newsome

We’re toast.

Don’t forget these two locations. They’re almost on opposite sides of LA though...

You better believe it is. Most people, from out of the state, only look to LA, San Francisco and other big cities when on vacation. California is a huge state and there is much more to see than the big cities. It all depends on what you want to see. We live in the country and people are amazed when coming out here for the first time.

Gotcha- thanks! I’ve received some good info from the folks here. If we make it out there, most likely we’ll hit the Reagan Library.

I suggest you stay out of the big city. There’s so much more to see if you come out here.
