Federal authorities Thursday accused a south Los Angeles County street gang of a litany of crimes, including the murder of a sheriff's deputy and racially motivated attacks designed to drive African Americans from their town.
The charges, part of a massive racketeering case dubbed Operation Knock Out, were outlined in several indictments charging 147 members and associates of the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang with murder, attempted murder, drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, extortion, kidnapping and witness intimidation.

I live next to Hawaiian Gardens. Today there were SWAT units all over the place; some were on "resting" in the park just down our block.
Helicopters were up and I saw officers from other cities in the area.

The guy in this photo looks like a Samoan, of which there are many in the area.
The tats don’t strike me as the usual hispanic style, either.
Maybe LEA were after any and all gang types?
Hawaiian Gardens is a poor area with run down housing and lots of kids ready to fill the shoes of the incarcerated. Recently some Korean-Americans have been buying some of the houses and businesses; they’re taking advantage of the low property prices. Perhaps the influx can change the area? Who knows?
I saw one of the “immigration marches” there a few years ago. All Mexican flags; not one US Flag.
He does kind of look Samoan; I just can’t recall seeing any in HG.
