New Hampshire lawmakers unexpectedly rejected a bill on Wednesday that would have made the state the sixth in the United States to authorize gay marriage.
The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives voted down the bill in a 188-186 vote, hours after its Senate approved the legislation 14-10 along party lines. An earlier version of the bill passed the state's House of Representatives on March 26.
Both chambers had been asked to approve language that would give religious institutions opposed to gay marriage legal protections, including the right to decline to marry same-sex couples. That wording was added by Governor John Lynch, who promised to sign the bill if those changes were made.

Catholic ping!
You net it will be only temporary, especially given as many homosexuals that appear during the summer around Portsmouth, etc. and right across the line into Maine...
Do I understand this correctly?
The state House and Senate previously passed a marriage bill.
The governor sent it back, asking for language that would protect religions from being forced to accept same-sex marriage, and prohibit lawsuits against religions based on this.
And now the state House voted this version of the bill down? They are against provisions that would protect religions from being sued regarding same-sex marriage?
Am I missing something?
The governor had indicated he would sign a bill with religious exemptions in it.
New Hampshire would have legal same-sex marriage except for some not accepting a religious exclusion?
Am I missing something?
This should send a shudder down all of us if I understand this correctly. Unless I missed something, it sounds like they are against giving a religious exclusion in the cases of same-sex marriage. Thus, religions will eventually be sued over this issue, denied tax exempt status, and otherwise affected. There is no mainstream religion that I am aware of that recognizes same-sex marriage, though some do committment ceremonies for same-sex.
It would depend on the reasons why the voted the way they did. Any Democrat who voted against that are probably against the religious exemptions.
Ah yes, Ogunqweer...don’t drop your wallet!
Will the New Hampshire state reps now be charged with a hate crime?
“They are against provisions that would protect religions from being sued regarding same-sex marriage?”
That’s exactly the way I read it.
Their true agenda exposed.......
What’s with calling this the “gay-marriage” bill? There is nothing gay about this lifestyle. If they are going to call this disgusting piece of legislation anything, it should be called “homosexual-marriage” bill or even better yet, “sodomite-marriage” bill.
I’m just using their headline, per FR regs.
do ya think America will catch on soon? The agenda: persecute the opposition, indoctrinate the children. Coming to your state soon!

Judges will eventually strike down any exemptions. Tolerate Diversity!
“Current Status: On October 20, 2005, the Middlesex County District Attorney decided to drop the criminal trespass charge ..... But Parker was informed that still no notice would be given if the schools were to discuss homosexuality with his son”

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
NH doesnt want MASS taxes...
Or the MASS “social reforms”...
Let’s have hope, I have hope, that this will stand. Hope like wishing on a star, probably, but if some of the reps hold and don’t compromise, and the opposition can filibuster or do some procedural moves, maybe. . .maybe. . .
