It’s time to take the tea party movement directly to Washington, D.C. Please join thousands of local organizers and grassroots Americans from across the country as we gather in our nation’s capital to deliver a message to the politicians: Enough!
We’ve had enough of the out of control spending, the bailouts, the growth of big government and the soaring deficits. And we reject the future tax increases to pay for all of this spending and debt down the road. We are gathering on 9-12-2009 to deliver our message in person that we’ve had enough!
The DoubleTree does sound nice and does have rooms available at this time. I have found the Hampton Inn at Convention Center/Capital Hill area to be about a little cheaper per night. Just wonder if the Hampton would be closer to the action?
Sure would be fun if we Freepers could register at some of the same hotels.
Any ideas, Florida Freepers? I want to lock in a room ASAP. :)

Here’s where I always stay. It is two blocks to the Crystal City underground Metro station and one block from 23 street and lots of places to eat. Now booking two adults for $116.00. There is also a parking fee

OldGlory and I stayed there at the same time you and The Right Stuff did for the March For Justice at the end of October 1998. We loved it. It is a short walk to the Washington Memorial and to the downtown. I drove in from Florida and was able to park right on the street. (Valet parking is $25.)
I just now booked a room with two Q beds for three nights as my sister may want to go also. I'm to check in on Thursday, 09/10/09 and check out on Sunday, 09/13/09. I have 24 hours to cancel before check-in without charge. I may want to change the dates to 09/11 through 09/14 later on (depending), so I hope I still can if need be. bttt

I would gladly go to this. I have been saying since our first Tea Party back in February here in St. Louis that we need a large one in Washington DC that would be impossible to ignore.

There are those who have valid concerns about heading into D.C. for the National Tax Rally on September 11-12. Do not let your concerns stop you from standing and defending our nation during a time of her greatest need.
I know ACORN will try to cause problems. ACORN will do everything possible to make us look bad. I also know it does not matter if we rally at our State Capitals or in D.C., the media will trash us as “fringe” elements of the right wing. I know the TOTUS will claim he didn't even know we were there.
I do also know this: A million Americans came together on April 15 in every state in our nation. I’ve yet to find a single credible report of a single arrest, at any Tea Party, anywhere in the US.
April 15 showed America how patriots protests. We do not break laws, we do not cause problems and we leave an area cleaner then it was when we arrived. I also know Freepers, we are quick to take to task anyone who acts in ways unbecoming to the conservative label and the Freeper name.
If ACORN acts up I have no doubts it will be handled in an appropriate manner. I also know Freepers will join with hundreds of thousands of Americans who will not be fooled by leftist tactics nor will they be drawn into them.
We are patriots. ACORN can not sway us, they can't move us, and they can not change our core beliefs. When we band together, ACORN and their ilk can not stand up to us.
I know thousands of people showing up at their state capital can be ignored or mocked by the media. Hundreds of thousands of peaceful marchers in D.C. can not be easily ignored.
I know if the media distorts our message or numbers, the truth will come out. A enterprising Freeper will show the media to be the biased fools they are, just as the CNN reporter was “outed” after her tirade of April 15.
Americans who are wondering what has happened to our country need to hear our side.
Those who care more about the latest American Idol winner then this country need to hear from us. They need to see that the conservative message does not come from off the wall right-wing nut-jobs (as the media likes to paint us).
We are a VERY large group of everyday Americans who fear for our country. We want it back from politicians who rule instead of serve and from those who are corrupt instead of lawful. We will not stand aside as failed liberal policies cause complete economic ruin while turning America into a third world country.
We are not going into D.C. to change the hearts and minds of our elected officials. For months, thousands of us have been writing, phoning, sending emails and going into the offices of our elected officials only to have our concerns mocked or ignored.
We are going to D.C. to change the hearts and minds of Americans.
We are going to D.C. to expose the corruption of our government and judiciary.
We are going to D.C. to make a large and vocal statement that we do not support Obama or his policies.
Most importantly, we go to D.C. to rescue our country from those who want to destroy her!
When we descend on D.C. with close to a million other patriots; when millions of people around the country rally with us; we will not be ignored.
I know, this is why we MUST go to D.C.

I might be in the minority but using a day of mourning where we lost thousands of Americans to push an anti-tax agenda is kind of morbid and wrong. What we should do instead is protest the Obama administration’s weakness on national defense. It’s the perfect day to do so. This administration and Washington in general needs to be protested, but to use the most tragic day in recent American history as a way to push an anti-tax agenda would be wrong.
On a Saturday!! That’s brilliant!!

Well - unfortunately, to deny that this date was selected with intent would be denying the truth. 365 days in a year - 52 Saturdays - and the weekend of 9-11 remembrance cannot have been a coincidence. If it was... then that stirs other concerns in my mind.
And I am 100% in favor of such a massive movement on DC and will support it if I can. But come on... the date...
The choice of dates proves that conservatives don’t understand “community organizing”.
If a different weekend had been chosen, and the march is successful, then we add another date to the list of dates associated with freedom.
But, by using the weekend of 9/11, it will go down in history as just another 9/11 remembrance. The message will be drowned out in the annual 9/11 coverage.
In a nation where freedoms are stolen every time Congress meets, a President that is sending us careening down the path to fascism, and an economy that is dying; 9/11 just isn’t that important right now. I’m not saying that we should forget it, but the Tea Party movement is about the more immediate threats to the Republic.
