You can run, but you cannot hide ... and if you try, one push of a button will cause a lethal poison to immediately begin flowing through your body.
That's the Orwellian future a Saudi inventor was seeking to bring to Germany until that nation's patent office announced last week it was rejecting his request to patent what has been dubbed the "Killer Chip."
The tiny semiconductor device is intended to be surgically implanted or injected into the body, according to the patent application, for the purpose of tracking visitors from other nations by global-positioning satellites and preventing them from overstaying their visas...
Under Germany's patent law, inventions that are unethical or a danger to the public are not recognized. recent times the number of people sought by security forces has increased," the Jeddah-based inventor wrote in his application...
The device would emit encrypted radio waves that would be picked up by satellites and "used to track fugitives from justice, terrorists, illegal immigrants, criminals, political opponents, defectors, domestic help, and Saudi Arabians who don't return home from pilgrimages," Sweden's The Local reported....
German law allows foreigners to apply for patents in the country through a local representative. In the case of the "Killer Chip," a Munich law firm was used....
That leaves open the possibility the Saudi inventor will find success in another country.

Try to pay attention. The poster of the thread was trying to tie this device to the Census getting GPS locations for residences in the US.
Oh, I think I was paying attention to the topic at hand just fine thank you.
You're a legend in your own mind.
Several posters have shown they can get your GPS location from an address using widely available applications. You have for some strange reason refused to address those factual statements. I wonder why...
Warrentless searches are no joke, and we have a government that will have no hesitation in future use of the GPS data base to do just that.
You need to demonstrate one thing - how the government having a GPS location, as opposed to just your physical street address, somehow aids a warrantless search of your premises. You really are showing a complete lack of comprehension of what GPS is - it is just a description of a location, no different from your physical address that already is in countless databases, both public and private.
Until you can come up with a viable reason for such, you're just pulling it out of your arse.
No right wing extremist nude sun bathing on your poch for you! You have an eye in the sky.
Now, please try to explain how a satellite several hundred miles up in the sky can peer through the roof of your porch.
Hard to get use to the fact that government is now your enemy. And that is exactly what the Obama government is, the enemy of freedom and the enemy of the people.
Oh, I have no misunderstanding of the Obama Administration. But I also know there are countless nutbar conspiracy theories out there that are used to paint rational conservatives as nutbars. You know, like the idiocy you are spouting here.
Ah, another nutbar, then...
This statement kinda struck me funny. This past weekend I was talking to a woman that said she was working for the census.
I asked her (just curious) if it were true that the census included GPS way-points. She replied yes.
She then began to tell me that the census was a joke in that it was so inefficient. Training manuals and videos were almost unattainable contrary to reassurances.
The database software being used to input the data was hosed and not user friendly.
Save a few tax bucks? Not according to this woman.
Just a lil input.
This would be perfect for released Gitmo inmates. Track them to their terrorist cell mates, then pop them off.
I’m not sure what you mean by a GPS surveillance database. Your address is a public record and has always been since paper and pencils were invented. What difference does it make if the government has the GPS coordinates to your house or not? The coordinates are irrelevant, what counts is your address and they have that already. In fact, they’ve always had it.
