Rats across Britain are evolving a resistance to poison that makes them almost impossible to kill, scientists have warned.
Genetic mutations have produced a new breed of "super rat" with DNA that protects the vermin from standard toxins, according to Professor Robert Smith at the University of Huddersfield.
Ratcatchers in Berkshire and Hampshire were the first to report that their poisons were no longer effective, which experts put down to increased immunity among the pests.

An old friend who was involved with civil consruction, mainly sewers and systems, had an incessant interest in rats, and the fight to control their populations.
He has preached about the dramatic rise in rat populations in Britain, and has lectured on the impact on Public Health of a new, 'poison resistant' rodent.

I guess the brits will have to experiment with ricin, or go back to the old “toxic” type heavy metal poisons that are generally banned.

Funny how things stay the same.
This ‘super rat’ has been around in one form or another since at least the early 1970’s. Along with the disappearing honey bee and the ‘super bug’ drug resistant germs that are going to devistate the human population.

The only person I know who has eaten cuy usually orders it “sin cola con Cola” (Without the tail, with a Coke, ). I suspect that isn’t so much a beverage/food pairing as an irresistible pun.

Yup, effective.
I have hunting dogs that adore the chore of keeping vermin down.

Thalium, Arsenic, glue traps, and lots of others things will work just fine, but they aren’t “eco friendly”
