A report of a man pointing a gun at some teenagers on bikes at the Sears mall spurred an extensive police response and prompted school district officials to lock the doors at Fairview Elementary School Thursday afternoon.

But it turned out the young adults had in fact been harassing the man and that he pulled a weapon from his vehicle for protection, police Lt. Dave Parker said.

A little sanity in crazy times.
To wit:

"After questioning the suspect and other witnesses -- the youths could not be located -- police determined the unnamed man had acted within his rights because he had not pointed the weapon at anyone and had not brandished it in a menacing manner, Parker said.
The man, his passenger and weapon were free to go, he said."

I’d really like to see us fight back against the current media onslaught of gun incidents by finding and posting all crimes committed using other weapons - knives, hammers, chain saws, whatever.

I went to new Walmart last night around 9:00pm and won’t be going back. It must’ve have been loud, cursing, rude teenager night. Every second word was a curse word, boys and girls alike...along with loud cell phone talk that was nothing but cursing.

Never seen such a scene in my locale. Might be an urban thang.

Has to be some pretty pathetic teenagers to be hanging out at a Wal-Mart.

I was talking to a guy that served in Korea. He told me the hardest thing for him to do during the war was shoot the children. He said "the little bastards run everywhere, and can take cover behind just about anything". lol

It must’ve have been loud, cursing, rude teenager night.

That's every day, and every night, of the latest generation. No respect, f*ck everyone else, sense of entitlement to infringe on others' rights all while screaming "you violatin' my rights." Our country is in trouble.

It’s a tragic time that we live in that we have to fear children.

(Not in my world, but in travels, I have been “uncomfortable” in a gathering of teens.)

My old boss got shot after giving a child a candy bar in Nam. He received a Silver Star for a different situation.

“He told me the hardest thing for him to do during the war was shoot the children.”

You have to lead ‘em a little more.

Well...you go 5 miles down the road and you hit George Bush’s house you go the opposite direction and you hit a part of town that’s in lock down after 10.

A-max-ing - that the Gaily News would actually print this without some kind of anti-gun commnet.

If you don’t live in Anchor town, come visit. Just be careful at the Northway Mall.

Me? Don’t wory a lot, carry a Kimber.... Kinda tough in the summer tho

I live in one of the nicer suburbs of Washington D.C. (northern Virginia). Something’s up...

Recently a man was assaulted and robbed on the street by at least six black teenagers—two blocks from my house.

Nearby, seven 13-16 year old teenagers were charged with gang participation, and gang recruiting at a Middle School (7th and 8th grades).

A girl at a nearby high school died of a heroin overdose. Investigations led to the bust of a heroin distibution ring.

Now that Obama is the Man, some people think they can do things they could or would never do before.

Take that any way you want to take it.

And they said President Bush was a Divider, not a Uniter.
Obama is making Bush look like a Piker.
