Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The criticism of children's author Judy Blume has reached such a fever pitch so quickly after an expose' article from Lifenews.com that Planned Parenthood is begging for help. Blume wrote a mother's day fundraising letter for the abortion business that has pro-life advocates aghast.
Blume plugged the pro-abortion group in an attempt to raise money near Mother's Day and her missive ironically suggested that abortion advocates celebrate mothers by donating to Planned Parenthood.
LifeNews.com received an email blast this afternoon from Planned Parenthood to its supporters titled "Please help" and begging for assistance in responding to the deluge of criticism.
"Yesterday, Judy Blume a beloved writer and icon to generations of women graciously wrote a letter about Mother's Day for Planned Parenthood," Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards writes. "Now, anti-choice extremists are inundating her with hate mail and phone calls."
"We rarely respond to these outrageous attacks, but when it comes to Judy Blume ... well, I can't stand by and do nothing. I just can't," Richards added. "Please, let her know how much we appreciate her courage."
Blume has likely directly seen the critical response.
On her web site, she indicates she reads her guestbook on a daily basis. However, it appears her webmaster has disapproved the posting of any negative comments about her Planned Parenthood fundraising letter as posts from LifeNews.com and other pro-life advocates who shared their polite criticism have not appeared on web site.
Neither Blume nor her publicist has responded to a LifeNews.com request for comment about supporting an abortion business that has repeatedly come under fire for hiding cases of sexual abuse of children.
The Planned Parenthood email directs abortion backers to sign a form with a pre-written letter thanking Judy for speaking out and urging friends to do the same.
The form contains a varied message to Planned Parenthood supporters from Richards saying she was "so shocked at the response to her latest act of compassion."
Saying the "reaction from anti-choice extremists was swift and vicious" Richards claimed pro-life people "flooded her office with harassing phone calls and hate mail, including death threats," though she provided no proof of such calls or threats.
Richards said she hoped the opposition to Blume's promoting abortion on Mother's Day would result in more donations to the abortion giant, which took in more than $1 billion in revenue during its last fiscal year.

Of all the blitheringly idiotic occasions to plug an abortion enterprise, Mother’s Day has to top them all.
I have a faint recollection of them trying to piggyback off of Christmas in the past, claiming that Mary was “pro-choice”.
Why is Planned Parenthood fundraising anyway? They get a huge amount of money from the federal government, the leftists support them without even being asked, and don’t tell me they don’t get gobs of money from abortions and abortion referrals.
They don’t even see the irony...reminds of those cards (was it Hallmark?) that came out a while back to send to your dear friends going through the trauma of abortion. Worse than tacky.
“Please, let her know how much we appreciate her courage.”
It doesn’t take any courage to kill a helpless baby you worthless witches.
Behind the sugary smile, lies a dark heart!
You would think that someone who depends on CHILDREN for their income would want to see as many as possible actually make it out of the womb alive.
