Republicans who think like Arnold are called RINO’S.

FReepers who think like Arnold and think pot should be legalized are called Libertarians.

I call them all LIBERALS.

This is insane.

Does anyone have the current number of pot smokers in CA? I heard once that there were 14 million drug users and that over half just did pot.

How many people are we talking about taxing now?

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday it's time for California to study whether to legalize and tax marijuana for recreational use, though he's not yet advocating for such a change.

Most are advocating an immediate change in government spending and /or tax cuts, however Scharzenegger is a visionary and is placing focus on more pertinent issues.

That's what happens when one is governor of a state with a surplus and those in charge need something to occupy their minds. /s

Do they have enough confiscated weed to use to pay tax refunds?

If medical marijuana was in the form of a suppository, would anyone use it?

I found this:

“Criminalizing millions of people - nearly 10 percent of the total US population for smoking a plant is ridiculous” he says. Numerous scientific studies since President Nixon’s Shafer Commission have proved this.”

So is 10% a good number? That is 3 million people of the 30 million in CA so how much money can it really raise?

I saw it was something like a 14 billion dollar industry so California’s percentage is what, another 10% or 1.4 Billion so the numbers really seem to fall pretty flat.

The cost of banning this mostly innocuous weed has been very great. both to our liberties, and to our pocketbooks.

Is there anyone here who would take up pot smoking if it were legal?

(Arnold also knows that it would be a very profitable cash crop to be grown in California).

CA could certainly save a lot of law enforcement and criminal justice system $$$ by no longer pusuing marijuana as an illegal substance.

Treat it like booze, just dont tax the people for the potheads' healthcare (which we all know they will anyway).

I’ve known more than a few people who’s lives have been practically destroyed from smoking pot.
Not from the actual smoking, from getting caught smoking.
