I have to disagree with this. We may not be close to a cure for cancer, but treatments, survival rates, and quality of life has improved dramatically since the 1970’s. Heck even in the past 20 twenty years.

Heck even in the past 20 twenty years.You're right. Cancer is no longer an automatic death sentence. While it is still often a killer, there are SO many cancer survivors walking around today, some completely cured, some in remission, and some actually living with cancer. Medical research has accomplished some wonderful things. Early testing has saved millions of lives.
I also give a lot of credit to Relay for Life, a wonderful organization that raises millions of dollars for cancer research. Go to a Relay for Life walk, and get a lump in your throat as you see cancer survivors of all ages, colors walking the first lap around the track. It is truly inspirational.
