Michael Steele did just that in Maryland’s 1st congressional district in the last election.
Almost every elected Republican in the state came out for the conservative Andrew Harris who was challenging the Rino Gilcrest. Even former Maryland (R) Governor Robert Erhlich (With whom Steele ran as Lt. Gov) came out against the Rino and for Harris. Steele supported the rino who later, after being defeated by the conservative in the primary, endorsed both the democrat and Obama. The democrat won in a very close race thanks to Steele’s efforts.
I was a Democrat up until 1976 when the party left me. I feel much more betrayed by this current crop of RINO leaders than I did in ‘76. I once again feel like a man without a party.
Never again will I betray my conservatism for these characters. The country is well on the way to hell with RINOs, we won't get there any faster if the socialist votes they cast have a D behind them.
