Maliki (Iraq PM): Prosecute U.S. troops for raid

BAGHDAD - Iraq's prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, yesterday denounced a predawn U.S. raid in southern Iraq during which two Iraqis were killed, and he sought to prosecute the U.S. soldiers who carried out the operation.

-snip-

U.S. officials, speaking anonymously, suggested that Maliki's move could be politically motivated. National elections are due next winter.

In a statement issued by the Iraqi government's Baghdad security command, which reports to the prime minister, Maliki called the raid "a violation of the security agreement."

He said he would ask the top U.S. commander to "send those who carried out this action to the judiciary."

The U.S. military earlier in the day said the raid had been "fully coordinated and approved" by the Iraqi government.

Prosecute our troops for a raid that was approved by high-ranking Iraqi officials? I don't think so.

Obama better not use this situation to appease the left.

I say a promotion with honors is due for carrying out Iraq’s garbage.

Why is anyone surprised? Its the same line of thinking of the O Admin wanting to prosecute the Bush Admin for the war in Iraq. I told you it would set a precedent world wide. It has already started.

Exactly. But if we shout loudly enough about it now, maybe these troops won’t be handed over for a “test case” as suggested in the article.

Irrespective of any other considerations our troops are probably Christians. It's not possible for any Christian to receive a fair trial in the Middle-East.

So, no.

End of story.

Perhaps it was too close to someone that was not tipped off.

Why is anyone surprised?

Absolutely correct - this is not going to be the only thing that blows back on the LEFTIES.

Maliki’s buddy Al-Sadr has been responsible for untolled deaths of USA and Brit forces. Has Maliki prosecuted his sorry butt? No.

The O Administration will forever be in the
“trial balloon” stage where ALL this stuff is concerned/
They get more out of the fantasy soft-line let’s look forward tone Obama wants to associate himself with, put up againt the hardline Justice NOW stance Pelosi and others
are pushing. Anything that makes Obama look good is fine with Nancy and her cohorts: she’s only too willing to play
the Wicked Witch, and Bad Cop to Obama’s Good Cop. It’s all a game, a rhetorical acting exercise done for public consumption. NOTHING will ever be done as far as a real prosecution . At most they will hold some cursory gentlemanly hearings. A lot more is to be gained by those currently in power to NOT do anything, but to talk about what they COULD do, could have done, but didn’t.

I think I would be making a contingency plan to sneak off to Amman and then to France to join the Foreign Legion.
