A British agent left top secret information about covert operations on a bus in South America when she lost her handbag while on assignment.
The MI6-trained agent left her handbag on a transit coach at El Dorado airport in Bogota, Colombia. Intelligence chiefs were forced to wind up operations and relocate dozens of agents and informants amid fears the device could fall into the hands of drugs barons.
The incident, which was hushed up by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca), the agents employer, is an embarrassment for the government.

Should these people even be carrying around comprehensive security plans in plain text in public like this? As well as the risk of forgetting her purse, someone might snatch it from her, or she could be killed in an accident and have it be taken.

A USB stick can be easily encrypted so that in case of theft or loss all that is at stake is a $10 device.

Besides, every newbie spy know that you don't leave anything sensitive in your purse.
You stash it in your pumpkin.

"A USB stick can be easily encrypted"Can be, yes; article doesn't seem to indicate this, however, and one thinks they would.

My guess is yon woman spy should be looking for not only a new job, but an altogether different career field.

Headed by John Cleese from the Ministry of Silly Walks. I could be mistaken, but I would have sworn Cleese headed the Department of Redundency Department, or am I mistaken?
