‘Plan B’ for 17 year old girls: Equipping Children to Kill Children?
Catholic Online ^ | 4/24/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

Medical evidence disputes the claim that this pill is always “contraceptive” in preventing fertilization. Even the FDA’s own Question and Answers admitted this with these words: “Plan B works like other birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. Plan B acts primarily by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). It may prevent the union of sperm and egg (fertilization). If fertilization does occur, Plan B may prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb (implantation).”

More accurate was the Pontifical Academy for Life’s Statement released on October 31, 2000: “The morning-after pill is a hormone-based preparation … which, within and no later than 72 hours after a presumably fertile act of sexual intercourse, has a predominantly "anti-implantation" function, i.e., it prevents a possible fertilized ovum (which is a human embryo), by now in the blastocyst stage of its development (fifth to sixth day after fertilization), from being implanted in the uterine wall by a process of altering the wall itself. The final result will thus be the expulsion and loss of this embryo."

Whether you listen to the Church or to the State, you get to the same place - “Plan B” can result in the taking of human life when it makes implantation of a newly fertilized oocyte impossible. This new human life, seeking shelter and nourishment in the first home of the whole human race finds that there is no room. “Plan B” renders this new human life homeless by subverting “Plan A” which is to welcome her/him into the mothers womb, the first home. “Plan B” becomes a direct chemical attack on a unique human life seeking refuge, a chemical landlord refusing shelter to the newest member of the human family.

What’s so special about 17? Why not 16, 14, 12?

So could 18 or 21-year-olds. If the stuff isn’t harmful to girls, then what difference does it make how old they are? Heck, sell it to men and boys ... it’s certainly not going to cause them any problems.

Just trying to figure out the government’s reasoning here ...

As long as they don’t buy a pack of smokes at the same time.

In about a decade expect a dramatic rise in breast cancer and other cancers that mainly effect woman. I don’t believe there has been any study about long term plan B use nd what it might do if used over and over? Will we see young males trying to use on their PG girlfriend and what it might do to a 2-4 month gestation pregnant girl?

So could 18 or 21-year-olds.

No, 17 year olds would have protection under law being minors. 18 up would be contributing, and could be charged with a misdemeanor or felony.

The state is operating to use the children against their parents, exactly like Stalin, A state informer/denouncer in every home.

Here in Texas our Republican governor (who I support, of course, on independence), 2 years ago tried to give every 12 year old some kind of injection, so they could have without consequences. Public opinion stopped him, but barely.

It’s definitely a dangerous world to try to bring up kids in...and amongst the most dangerous predators is our government.

Gardasil, a vaccine to prevent the transmission of some strains of Human Papilloma Virus. The manufacturer had paid him.

Exactly, if it's safe, then it's safe at ANY age.

I am still waiting for someone to give me the name of ANY OTHER PRESCRIPTION DRUG which is available OTC in a HIGHER DOSAGE than the prescription form. Why not make birth control pills available OTC? What is to stop women from using Plan B as their SOLE form of birth control and what are the health risks associated with this? I ask because this is EXACTLY what is starting to happen.

Thanks, I couldn’t remember the details. But what a governor, he makes Jim Wright, William Jefferson (Democrat-Louisiana) and Barney Frank look like saints.

Nothing at all. It's judgmental even to ask the question.

and what are the health risks associated with this?

Who knows? Depending on how often it's used, the aggregate risk might be less than that from using standard, daily birth control pills.

Oh, I don’t know about *that*, but it was certainly a corrupt and money-grubbing thing to try!
