Opponents of gay marriage are celebrating an amendment to Connecticuts gay marriage legislation that allows religious organizations to opt out of same-sex ceremonies. There's that word again.

I think these provisions are great (in the same way it’s great to have your arm cut off if you’d die of gangrene otherwise) but I’m pessimistic about them staying around. It seems the eft will not be happy until pastors are perp-walked out of their churches for refusing to endorse sodomy.

Gov. Jodi Rell, a Republican, personally opposes gay marriage, but has said shell sign the bill. That's like opposing abortion personally but signing a bill to offer abortion on demand.
