America should have a renter's deduction.

The lack of one, coupled with the mortgage deduction played a big role is this recent real estate bubble--even though it is rarely discussed. How many folks have bought homes when they should have rented, after their brokers and relatives told them "you are throwing your money away".

The deduction is an incentive to have a loan, rather than to buy your quarters outright.
