GOP analyst: Bachmann’s a liability to Republicans
Minnesota Independent ^ | 4/13/09 | Andy Birky

From calling on members of her district to be “armed and dangerous” over cap-and-trade spending to stirring up fears of liberal “re-education camps” that would indoctrinate young people, Rep. Michele Bachmann’s recent statements have drawn the ire of Democrats and energized Republican activists. But at least one Republican analyst thinks she might be taking the party in the wrong direction.

Tom Horner, Minnesota Public Radio’s (MPR) Republican analyst and an adviser to Republicans including former Sens. Norm Coleman and Dave Durenberger, told “Midday” that Bachmann is sending the wrong message.

“She is an embarrassment to some republicans, myself included,” he said. “She is intentionally provocative, and does it in a way that is designed to exploit fears, to exploit mistrust in government, to do all of the kinds of things that America is not needing right now.”

He continued, “I don’t think that’s what the Republicans ought to be doing and I don’t think it’s how we need to be defined. We need leadership in this party that can stand up and say, ‘Michele Bachmann is not my kind of Republican.’”

Tom Horner sounds like the kind of worthless POS that has been leading the party to democrat-lite status.

BTW, adviser Tom, how did that moderate Norm Coleman thing work out, ya know, running against such a retarded radical leftist with a trail of baggage 1000 miles long??

Could you put a “BARF ALERT” next to that headline, please?

Contrary to what the author of the article said, Michele Bachman is EXACTLY what the Republicans need and she IS my type of Republican! She’s actually got guts and she doesn’t take the liberals’ crap!

Republicans who are actual conservatives make country-club “advisers” like this clown nervous. This guy exemplifies everything that is wrong with the GOP leadership.

If half the Repub males had the guts Michelle Bachmann did we would not be in this mess.

One thing I will always be thankful to Mitt Romney is how he rushed in to help her whenthe GOP cut off her money during the 2008 election. Talk radio and voters also sent her money to help her.

I’m a big fan of Michelle. Heard her speak at CPAC and got her to autograph my badge/schedule.

“She is an embarrassment to some republicans, myself included”

Yeah, most RINO’s would think that way. What is that guy, part of the Log Cabin crowd?

Let’s see here, Coleman lost to a lunatic who basically ran as a prank and I’ve never even heard of the other guy. No thanks.

What a load of BS, this is clear evidence that the Republican party has lost touched with the people who use to support it!

Oh, by the way, David Durenberger is a Chafee-style lefty Republican. Wikipedia has this:

Durenberger gave an interview in 2005 on the Inside Minnesota Politics Podcast, stating that he is no longer a supporter of the Republican Party but is not a supporter of the Democratic Party either. He said in an interview with Peter Idusogie that Democrats are better equipped to handle health care and that President George W. Bush was wrong about the Iraq War.[3] David Durenberger currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Energy Literacy Advocates.

Sounds like a winner to me Mr. Horner!

She is fantastic. I used to have Sarah as my #1 but Michelle is not talking about global warming. So Sarah gets VP now.

This guy’s “bend-over-and-take” platform is exactly why I have found myself rejecting the Republicans and embracing Libertarian ideas. The change to real small government must start now, and the majority of Republicans no longer offer it. When they do... they get my attention.

He knows so much about it he got beat by an over-the-hill used up former standup comedian.
