Miss California Sparks Furor With Gay Marriage Comments on Miss USA Telecast
Fox News ^ | April 20, 2009

Posted on 04/20/2009 8:18:07 AM PDT by lewisglad

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California's comments regarding gay marriage.

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was "saddened" by Prejean's statement.

"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."

Co-director Shanna Moakler told FOXNews.com that she fully supported Lewis' statement.

Miss California's answer sparked a shouting match in the lobby after the show. "It's ugly," said Scott Ihrig, a gay man, who attended the pageant with his partner. "I think it's ridiculous that she got first runner-up. That is not the value of 95 percent of the people in this audience. Look around this audience and tell me how many gay men there are."

Charmaine Koonce, the mother of Miss New Mexico USA Bianca Matamoros-Koonce, argued back.

"In the Bible it says marriage is between Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!"

Real men don't talk this way. If he isn't queer, this is a guy who gets his nuts back on Saturday nights for an hour or two. Rest of the time, he better tow the mark or mom or the mrs will crack him a good one.

I guess people are entitled to their own opinions, unless of course that opinion differs from that of the crazy gay rights left. I don’t believe this is offensive at all. Why was this question even posed to a Miss America contestant?

She was asked by Perez Hilton, a flaming gay if there ever was one. No doubt he wanted to bring up the topic so gays could trot out Miss California as a supporter or try to shame her, as they’re doing. Either way, they win.

To put future beauty pageant contestants on notice about the correct range of responses to this question. They range from whole hearted acceptance to very mild and limited "personal reservations".

"In the Bible it says marriage is between Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!"

Well she obviously doesn't have the latest gay-friendly translation where it IS actually Adam & Steve in the Garden, Sodom & Gomorrah were praised throughout the land for their free-thinking social policies and the New Testament is only half the size due to the elimination of those 'hate-filled' rants by 1st century fear-mongers.

Of course it was. This is a beauty (*cough* scholarship! *cough*) pagent, not a political debate.

And someone needs to tell Nancy-boy the co-director that 80% of the country is AGAINST gay marriage and the only time is succeeds is by judicial fiat. And Miss California is reflecting the views of the MAJORITY in California.

To quote your Messiah and his minions: “You lost. Get over it.”

I happened to see her response and how crestfallen the questioner seemed when she opposed gay marriage. I admire her courage, because she knew what the "expected" answer was, yet she chose to answer honestly. It may have cost her the title.

The sexual degenerate who posed tghe question should have been silenced before he violated the pagent rules by asking such a question of the contestant. The asker is a degenerate activist and this is illustrative of how these sexual degenerates have infected every aspect of American society.

Just to be clear - this is the statement of Lewis that Miss Moakler agrees with.
So, you are are saying that you also agree with the following:

As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit.
