I miss the old days on FR when people would actually respond to points instead of using catchphrases as a substitute for reason.

“BS. I never said or implied that at all.”

Funny, your post said “So you support unlimited entitlements for veterans.”

Nothing about WWII vets.
Again, from this former 13B, SHUT UP.

So you support unlimited entitlements for veterans.

I'm a disabled vet, 100% service connected, and I don't support "unlimited entitlements".

That has nothing to do with this story, or even what's going on in some of our VA hospitals today.

I'll cut you a break and assume you're not a vet, don't know all the facts, and didn't consider your post thoroughly before hitting the send button.

But before you post again, think hard about what you say. Flippant responses are not advisable.

Check out his post 20.
He claims he didn’t say what he said in post 14.

You said in post # 14, "So you support unlimited entitlements for veterans."

No question mark, so it was a statement from you, deciding what another poster thought.

Big mistake. In "the old days, 'Harpseal' would have chewed you up and spit you out.

Think before you post.

I miss Harpseal.
Tonk would have been another good one for this thread.

Kids today. Sheesh!

BTW, check out my profile page. I posted a couple of pix from my trip to Aspen, for the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic.

First time skiing! Best adrenaline rush since jumping!

You are obviously generation ungrateful.

Everything you have you owe to a Vet one way or another.

I’ll admit that I’m not brave enough to go skiing.
I know, ironic coming from a former artilleryman.
Wish LadyX and TexasCowboy were still around, they’d be good ones to ping too.

You aren't old enough to miss the old days. And I did respond to your point. You resent veteran benefits. I challenged that.

Your Post 11: There's a difference between owing a debt and having young people--like me, I'm 24--working the rest of our lives to fund their welfare entitlements.

Veterans benefits are not welfare.

'Tonk' spanked me many times for ‘insubordination’!

And I learned a lot from those "sessions"!

Tonk and some others did a few depth charge runs on me.
But that was back when I was a mewling puking newb.
Still had that brand new smell, fresh fom the cellophane wrapper and all.

Speaking of serving and VA stuff, having served during the Clinton years, I got to see a sliver of the ‘bad old days’ when the VA went out of their way to deny veteran benefits or treatment.
“What? Chipped a tooth? You were’t on duty, so we can’t do anything about it.”

TexasCowboy, definitely.
Sheesh, how many vets have we lost in the past two or so years?
I’m almost afraid to ask.

Looking at your tagline, I get a funny feeling about you.

Do you like Viking Kitties? Moose? Ozone?

My sister bit a moose once.
It wasn’t paying attention to protocol.

My best guess as to Mr. Currie’s branch of service would be Royal Artillery. As you say not much to work on.

Thanks for the post

I volunteer regularly at my local VA, here in Lebanon, PA.

These folks are the greatest! Maybe it's because it's in PA Dutch country, but I'd trust my life (and have) to the doctors and nurses here.

But they weren't prepared for all the wounded from Iraq, and they're still playing ‘catch-up’ here. Especially all the TBI traumatic brain injury) from those damned IED’s.

The chipped tooth quote was an actual quote during the Clinton years.
Guy was off duty, got knocked in the face, and got that quote in response.
I never heard what the end result was as I lost contact with that soldier when I left the uniform.
Pennsy tends to do a better job of taking care of the troops than NY does.
Of course, NY is a funny farm state anyway.
