McTiernan asked the judge to withdraw his plea, arguing he didn't have adequate legal representation, was jet-lagged and under the influence of alcohol when he pleaded guilty to one count lying to the FBI about his association with Anthony Pellicano in April 2006.

I don't doubt it. The FBI used to be mostly about getting to the truth. These days it seems they are more about trying to trick people into lies or misstatements. Lewis Libby's case was a particularly nauseating case of that.

"Die Hard" one of the most perfect action films ever made. But "Hunt for Red October", which he also directed, was head and shoulders above "Predator".
