Read the article and while I am not a creationist and I believe in the concept of adaptation of species over time to environmental pressures, I think that Chimps are not a descendant but more likely a cousin of the species that are out descendants.

I think that Humans are more than likely derived from a semi-aquatic Hominid species that dates back over 10 million years ago. The fine motor control referenced in the article would be a necessity for gathering food from coastlines, lakes, rivers and streams. Gathering foodstuff from the ocean coast may have required delicate hand control to prevent getting stung by creators of the sea which have deadly toxic stingers.

It is easy to develop such rationalizations (and they are a dime a dozen in evolutionary speculations). But are there not scores of creatures living in such niches that lack such adaptations? For example, I wouldn't describe a seal as having such adaptations, or a walrus, or semi-aquatic critters like hippos, etc. I could be wrong, but would suggest seeking some confirmatory evidence for the story thus spun.

You must understand how offensive the idea of being descended from chimps is to a believer in creation. We believe the we are made in the image of God. Evolutionary theory instead teaches we are descended from, like made in the image of, some sort of ape or monkey. It replaces the God of the universe with a chimp of all things. It’s just horrible for us.

Evolutionary theory does not hold that man is descended from chimps or gorillas, but that the three groups has some common ancestor if you go back far enough.

The ICR article references some mainstream science articles. This one goes into reasons why the strength levels of men and chimps are so different. There are two main kinds of muscle fiber, and every muscle has some of each kind in varying proportions. One kind is good for explosive strength, but tires quickly. The other kind produces less strength, but allows you to exert yourself for extended periods. Humans have more of the latter.

Chimps have the kind of explosive strength that allows them to fight off a sudden attack, or quickly scamper up a tree, but not be able to work at something hour after hour without rest. Humans are able to work for hour after hour at low levels, at the cost of not having as much short-term strength. The latter becomes important when you have to work a plow all day. Humans who did not have the stamina to work a plow all day, or to walk for hours stalking prey, would not survive that well in ancient times.
