Let's review: Government forces traditional lending intuitions to give money to people with poor credit and no ability to repay. Poor people flock to program and buy houses they have no prospect of ever paying for. Poor people default on loans and banks fail because nobody is paying them back. Banks are accused of predatory lending and government takes over their operations.
Meanwhile, an ever increasing number of previously non poor people are losing their jobs and becoming unable to pay their bills. The evil capitalists that are still functioning are mean spirited and insist that they still get paid force the unfortunate poor people and nuvo poor people to either write bad checks or borrow money from payday loans. Government decides to protect people by making sure they can't borrow money from “payday loan” people.
I guess I still miss the part about where that leaves the poor people? Or is the government planning on opening new ‘cash advance” kiosks?

Reminds me of what my uncle said to me about 20 years ago that stuck with me: “There’s a lot of money to be made in poverty.”

Why are they comparing payday loan fees to checking account overdraft fees? The obvious alternative to not taking out a payday loan is to pay some bills late, not to start writing bad checks. Surely if these payday loan customers are so rational and well-informed, they can figure that out. Late credit card payments also carry a fat fee, of course, but not any more that bounced checks. And a lot of bills carry either no late fee or a very small one (utilities, rent, etc).

Congress needs to deal with the @$$holes that are ignoring the “Do Not Call” list by using spoof numbers and Caller ID blocking. I say we hang ‘em by their privates. I’m so sick of these rotten b@$t@rds I could scream.

Shut these bottom feeders down. Some claim this country is a Christian country, yet wink and nod at the usury of payday loans.

Freedom sucks. Two adults shouldn’t be allowed to freely enter into an agreement, if I don’t think it’s a good idea. Capitalism sucks too.
