The SEALs did exactly what they were authorized to do when they were finally authorized to do so. The SEALs are not trained to ignore an opportunity just to wait and see if the situation worsens while a life is already in danger.

I am pointing out that the capt life was on danger form the get go and even more so when he jumped overboard

the order was if the Capt’s life was threatened and it was from day one so the question is when did the order to use deadly force come about.

I think obama gave the order later on as he wanted to talk instead hence the FBI and it was only the quick thinking of the Navy capt and the seals which saved him as the navy capt used that order to his advantage knowing full well that those pirates would have made it to the shore

I did not track back to verify this so hope my recollections are not tangled!

I thought that the Boxer was also sent to the area of the pirate hijacking? If this is right, this means that the Boxer's Marine Expeditionary Unit would have its complement of Marine snipers and these specialists could have been, or were, on the scene at the Bainbridge well before the Seal unit arrived.

Bunch of "ifs" here for sure but I do wonder if Marines were held back while the FBI was brought into the the situation or for other reasons. Marine snipers are not exactly creampuffs ya know.
