But I thought that these cameras were all about safety and not revenue generation...that’s what we were originally told when they started going up everywhere.

These camera’s are not going to be placed to enhance public safety. That may be a side benefit(but I doubt it) but these camera’s are being placed as a tax on speeders, a fund raiser. I suppose the speeders will not receive points on their license, but will pay the tax.
Maryland just passed a similar law to tax speeders. My guess is they will raise the tax like they raised the cigarette tax , until speeders dissappear. Or the camera’s do, the result of vandalism.

Wonderful, the onset of the total surveillance&kontrol society approaches us.
Drinkers, smokers, now drivers.
Enjoy, subjects.

Why not just make it illegal to go outside?
That way you can give tickets to EVERYBODY!

Question: If I receive a ticket from a “red light camera” and I plead “not guilty,” how does the state or municipality prove beyond a reasonable doubt that I was driving the vehicle? Sure, the camera may prove that my truck went through a red light, but how does the camera prove that I was actually driving the truck at the time as opposed to a friend or relative?

I hope they get them up in time to watch all the rich folks packing up and leaving town.

If the government is going to try and pick my pocket can’t they at least try to be honest about it? I mean really at least the mob tells you how much you have to pay.

NYC should ticket the jay walkers. Ooops... better not give them any more ideas to tax. George Harrison was a prophet.... TAXMAN!

How many “conservatives” voted for this?
People are waking up to this scam but as usual it is just crammed down our throats.

The government would probably just argue that you gave up your right to a fair trial in order to obtain the privilege of having a driver's license.

In some jurisdictions, a photo of the driver is taken too. I don't know what happens if you wear a hat, sunglasses, and a fake mustache though.

Doesn’t matter, it’s like a parking ticket.
The car is registered to you, hence your responsibility.
