Obama tries out role as apologizer-in-chief
Washington Times ^ | April 9, 2009 | Jay Ward

America, to hear President Obama tell it, is an occasionally arrogant nation struggling with shameful legacies of racism and discrimination, one that bears a large share of the blame for the world's economic and climate crises. Oh, and our train service is lousy.

Mr. Obama's just-concluded eight-day trip abroad, his first major international foray, also marked the debut of a more humble foreign-policy style, one that sought to use cultural concessions and admissions of past mistakes to disarm other countries before challenging their own policies and attitudes toward America.

Repeatedly on a trip that included stops across Europe and in Iraq, Mr. Obama tried to pre-empt criticism of the United States by expressing it first himself - a sharp break from the practice of President George W. Bush.

Mr. Obama told Europeans that "America has shown arrogance" toward their continent, conceded that the United States bears much of the blame for the world's economic plight, and said in a speech broadcast throughout the Middle East that America is still dealing with its "darker" legacies of discrimination and mistreatment of minorities.

Some fear that Obama's approach plays into the hands of those around the world who are rooting for the world's lone superpower, already weakened by military and economic stresses, to be taken down a peg.

"From my perspective as a conservative, feel-good foreign policy is not leadership. It is arrogant and naive at the same time," said Mary Matalin, a longtime political adviser to Mr. Bush and his father.

"And from my perspective as an American citizen, it is demoralizing. He is going to pound our sense of exceptionalism out of us if it's the last thing he does," she said.

It’s OK for Americans to feel Exceptional in the Exceptionalism sense of the word. There’s alot of good reasons why this is so.

What you Yanks may not realize (or perhaps it is Obama who doesn’t realize it) is that all countries worth their salt embrace Exceptionalism.

Do you think Russia doesn’t? Australia? Even little ol’ New Zealand?

What Obama is trying to beat out of you Yanks is pretty basic: it is the basis of your national pride. Somebody needs to tell him to stop. Emphatically.

Whats even more depressing is the amount of Americans that still support this loser, some people are truly dense and stubborn.

However I have noticed a dramatic decrease in trolls lately, maybe there is hope for some.

The “dramatic decrease in trolls lately” may just be due to spring break and midterms that the young commies have to take.

I too am disappointed that not more Sheeple have abandoned this anti-American fool by now, but if what they know is based on the MSM, they continue to thrive in their blissful ignorance.

Obama blames Americans for their treatment of minorities.

Tell me another country who treats its minorities better.
What other country gives jobs to minorities by lowering standards to get quota’s. What other country allows people to come and go as they please binging with them their kids to educate and give health care to?

The fact is in plain English, Obama is a racist minority who looks at America with a minority racists view, and wants even more entitlements for his people. His people being blacks.America’s white citizens are Obama’s enemies.

Obama knocked America DOWN to build himself UP. Simple.

All this power he's trying to grab, you think he wants a Republican to ever have that? How does he plan to prevent that?

He feels comfortable in the bash America mode for some reason. Like a Third World Marxist. It’s the anti-colonialist jargon heard in many colleges and from Third World regimes.

David Axelrod, one of the president's closest advisers, said Mr. Obama's approach is one "he's always believed in."

Yes, despising America is something he's always believed.
