98 rounds from Binghamton shooter spurs ammo debate (Barf alert)

INGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) - Gun control advocates are seizing on the Binghamton, N.Y., shooting as a reason to increase the price of ammunition.

Police say man who gunned down 13 people at the immigration center fired nearly 100 shots from two handguns in a little more than a minute. If he bought the ammunition online, he could have paid as little as $40 for those rounds.

Gun control advocates say if a man who complained about only getting $200 in unemployment a month could afford to repeatedly practice shooting, the price of ammo should go up to curb violence.

Gun rights supporters argue cheap ammunition is important for people who frequently practice to be responsible gun owners.

Police say almost all of Wong's victims died instantly. Wong killed himself as police were rushing to the scene.

Why did the cops sit outside for 90 minutes like VA Tech and Columbine? They could have lobbed in tear gas within the first 5 minutes. They had a wounded and dying receptionist on the phone talking to the cops during the shooting. She was bleeding to death for 90 minutes. She is in critical condition.

Certainly, someone about to commit a murder-suicide is worried about the price tag.

Far better to for Congress to increase gas taxes to $50 tax per gallon of gas so would-be mass murderers of innocents in gun-free zones would have to stay at home, due to unaffordability of taking a car or bus to the murder site.

But to cut to the chase, even better to make mass murdering with guns (clubs, knives and chain saws permitted, but not guns) illegal. Thus problem solved!

I checked my company e-mail a few hours ago to learn that an attorney of ours had a family member killed by this person — her aunt. God bless her and her aunt and the rest of her family.

Making sure no one showed them up by being a hero and rushing in to help.

I'd sure like to know what kind of handguns this guy was using, and how many rounds they held.

You just knew this was coming. If they can’t get away with taking our guns the next best thing is to make ammo unavailable.

Report this morning said one was a Beretta 9mm - fired 87 rounds, probably 15-17 round mags; the other was a .45 Auto, fired 11 rounds.
They found multiple loaded mags so he didn’t run out of ammo.

And he apparently didn’t run out of time...

I'm betting he was using the totally inadequate 9mm caliber, just like the kook who wiped out all theose people at Va. Tech. We will never hear again from the .45 cal crowd that the 9mm is underpowered.

With a Glock 17 (not sure if that's what he was using) you can easily fire 100 rounds in 2-3 minutes. If he walked in with two hi-cap 9mm's, he fired 30+ rounds before he even had to reload.

I've heard he had a "rifle" at least three times in th4e last two days, does anyone know for sure what he was carrying?

The Feds should supply Ammo Stamps for those of us who need help in buying more Ammo.

You can get a 31 round mag for that glock, (HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES for GLOCK) I thought I have even seen a 50 round mag at the range but I can't find one on-line.

Just FYI, I have no idea what was actually used here.

“getting $200 in unemployment a month could afford to repeatedly practice shooting, the price of ammo should go up to curb violence.”
I’m always amazed at the new levels of stupid that liberals can manage to think up. What exactly is the evidence that people who practice shooting repeatedly are prone to violence?
My experience has always been exactly the opposite, that the more involved a person is with shooting sports, the less likely they are to misuse or mishandle a firearm. Why don’t we ever hear discussions on identifying and preventing mentally unstable people?
