Another sign that that the eco-movement is a victim of the economy: Condé Nast, the publisher of Vanity Fair has decided to kill its annual green issue, according to an article by Rachel Shields in the April 5 The Independent (UK).

"Condé Nast, publisher of Vanity Fair, argues that the environment has become so integral to the news agenda that there is no longer a need for a dedicated issue," Shields wrote.

"Vanity Fair remains committed to covering the environment, and we'll spread our coverage throughout the year, instead of relegating the bulk of it to a specific issue," a spokeswoman said to The Independent.

They’re almost as clever as my daughter when she was 10. The class assignment was to make an environmental poster. So she did not.

(No waste of paper for MY girl)

Think they realize there's over-saturation? Afraid people will become disinterested?

This is fabulous! Global warming is a little less scary when you are facing starvation..lol. There are some silver linings to this recession. Hopefully, the weak parasites will begin to die off in large numbers soon.

This is probably true so Vanity Fair should switch horses and start running an annual Kook Aid Drinkers issue in honor of all the crap that is being fed to the public these days in the guise of environmentalism.

I’m very disappointed over this development.

Inexplicably, the poor economy has also caused me to kill my own “Green Initiative”.

As soon as it quits raining, I’m going to drag all the cans, plastics, and liquor bottles I’d been planning on recycling down to the creek behind my house and dump them in.

Environmentalists have never been able to come to terms with the fact that environmentalism is a pasttime of the affluent. It is, in other words, a luxury industry, or way up high on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

The only exception is if you manage to transmute it into a religion but it applies only to those who are converts to the religion. Hungry, cold people don’t care whether that tree or plant is endangered. They only want to know if it can be burned or eaten.

Just goes to show you that “environmental issues” get tossed aside by all but the most hard-core leftists in times of financial uncertainty.

What's also going on is that the wretched phonies at Vanity Fair don't want to blame Obama for anything. When GWB was in office, every heat wave and hurricane was Dubya’s fault; now that The One is President, Vanity Fair essentially goes quiet on the environment issue. The economy is a pretext for not wanting to be called hypocrites when they don't demand Obama do the same nonsense they demanded Bush do. “Silver lining”, indeed!
